The new A3/S3 saloon.

Having spent a number of years in a Saloon, they look nice, but as a family chariot they arent the best option. This why I think Skoda have the right idea, saloon looks with Hatch practicality. But Estate is obviously the far better option when practicality is a real concern.

I guess the A3 saloon is a Skoda Rapid clone? With VAG's new MQB system, we will see some real godaweful variants of cars!

To be fair Audi's have always been a better car inside than their German counterparts. Dont like the crappy cheapo looking flip screens that car manufacturers seem determined to use nowadays.
 
Not a fan of audi's in these days - more of a fan in the 80/90's, theyve become a bit like the ubiquitous bmw was back in the 90's. If you're car 'driver', you'd want at very least the rs4 as all the others have the usual trait of understeer, unbeknown steering. Still having said that, theyre very nice places to sit, are alright looking.. Just a bit sensible/boring arnt they really?!

Isn't that the S3 interior with the flat bottomed steering wheel?

Exactly the same as far as I can tell apart from the wheel?

Oh i completely agree the F10 is a lot nicer we sat in the A1 then the A3 think he was just a bit shocked at the massive change in quality just one step up
 
Isn't this all a knock on from the general size of cars going up so where the A1, 1 Series, A Class etc would have been a relatively small car 10-15 years ago they are now pretty big. So the manufactures are filling a perceived gap in the market for a small/mid sized saloon to replace the 3, A4, C which have all shuffled up the size scale. As an example the current shape mondeo is bigger than the old Ford Scoprio which was in its time a pretty big car.

I'm more than happy to have a series of smaller saloons appear, as both this S3 and the CLA 45 AMG really appeal to me as a good compromise between size, comfort and performance.

I guess this is largely for the US market (where I believe things like the Jetta have always sold pretty well, compared to the UK).

I think it looks great.
 
I like it, I prefer the styling to the CLA which doesn't look quite right to me. This looks more conservative, nice in S trim. I'm pleased small saloons are coming back, the 3 series etc have all got bigger and bigger over time.
 
Who cares about all the technical shizzlewizzle. It looks awesome, and if it is a regular S3 underneath, it will be awesome in every other way as well!

I'd take the 135i Coupe over the M135i if I were to judge by looks alone.
