Show us your kitty cats

My little dude is off to a trip to the vets, he seems to have hurt his arm somehow! He's still eating, purring and climbing around but hes been limping when he walks so I'm hoping its nothing major!

Can anyone recommend a cattery around the Merseyside area? Need to get one booked for the end of June. I can find loads but not sure how good any of them are!

just ring all the ones that look good and ask if you can go and visit and then you will know which ones you would be happy to leave your cat at.
If not there are pet sitting services where people come round twice daily.

At my work my supervisor used to give £50 to another girl for going in to look after the cats for 2 weeks, this was cheaper for her than the cattery and she was happier the cats stayed at home.

I would ask anyone to go in at least once a day, as apart from any things that need dealing with your cat will at least need fresh food and water everyday:)

Took Dex to the vets this morning and luckily he said there are no breaks or swelling. He said he thinks another cat may have bitten him as his temperature was high so he gave him some antibiotics and some painkillers for the next few days.

He definitely seems to have perked up a bit now the painkillers have kicked in!

Good catteries also won't mind if you show up unannounced as they won't have anything to hide from you :)

I did exactly this with the one mine are booked into in June. Asked if I could look round, and they went and showed me all the pens, let me meet a few cats that were staying there etc.

Went for a walk with Vader, he loves the sun..

I got a corner scratch thing that protects the sofa (its flat, but has a hinge so it bends round the sofa) where they scratch it, I then put the scratch post right next to it, with the bit that goes on the floor tucked under the sofa. They now mainly leave the sofa alone, and scratch the post instead

Sounds harsh, but when mine were kittens I had a squirty bottle with water in it, when they started scratching I'd squirt them 'once' only!!! whilst saying 'Scratchy Scratchy'...

They got the message quite quickly!!, After about 2 months, I'd only have to reach for the bottle whilst chanting 'Scratchy Scratchy' and they'd stop (no squirting necessary!)...

Then after about 6 months I'd only need to say 'Scratchy Scratchy' and they'd stop!! :D

I got one of those mahoosive climbing house things for them with scratching post legs which they turned their attention too, as I didn't Squirt or Chant at them when they did!!.

I miss my two babies! :( I really do!! :( :(

I've found saying "no" works with our older cat works. With the kitten we take him to the scratching post and rub his paws on it. Only had to show him twice and he always uses the scratching post now.

I've also used the sticky tape on the walls and that works while its still sticky. If it looses the stickiness it becomes a cat magnet!

ive tried putting the post where he scratches but he just scratches round it...

im gonna get one of them cardboard floor things i think.

knip u got a link to these corner things?

what is the sellotape on the wall malarkey?

You can also try spraying something that smells of citrus on the furniture as they hate that smell. Or maybe leaving a cut lemon where they are scratching.

Hi Guys,

This is very hard for me and I never thought that less than 3 years after I made this post I would be saying this but Toulouse (pictured) is going to the vets to be put to sleep today.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.
I lost my beloved Bengal a few weeks ago and hit me pretty hard.
This is the first time I've read this thread since his loss.
Unfortunately, all the mourning and sadness won't bring back our loved ones (human or otherwise). We just have to get on with our lives.

While it's not as ideal as twice a eday, a friend only needs to pop around once every 2-3 days, to empty out the litter tray and put new food down (dry food is good at times like this). Just get an extra litter tray and put twice as much food down. Cats can cope with this.

Well I had a chat with my mate tonight and she said she didn't mind coming round every day.. There will be one day she can't make it for 24 hours, but apart from that she said she'll come round once or twice a day. Guess I need to get her something for doing it now!
