*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Hi, it is registering on orange, it just wont let me make any calls or send texts, texts fail, and calls go straight to orange answer phone saying something about adding credit or business stuff

yeah you're not entirely connected, have you transferred a number to orange?

sounds to me like you're halfway through a number port or if not that then you're not correctly connected.

A reminder to you guys to unlock developer options and enable force gpu rendering to ensure a more consistently smooth UX.

I knew I'd forgotten to do something after getting my phone! Thanks for the reminder. Turned off the annoying animations too.

Samsung's 'S Voice' assistant app has improved considerably on the Galaxy S4. In fact, it's worth revisiting if you dismissed it on earlier devices due to slow performance or hit-and-miss speech recognition. On the other hand, if you're not using S Voice regularly, there's a quick, easy setting change you can perform to make the home key just a little more responsive.

By default, when you double-tap the home key, you'll launch straight into S Voice. That means when you press home, there's a very short pause while the phone waits for a second button press. To avoid this and have the home key immediately send you back to the home screen, you can disable the S Voice shortcut combo. To do this, load S Voice, then press the menu key and hit "Settings." Next, uncheck "Open via the home key." That's it -- with the shortcut combo disabled, the home button should respond immediately as opposed to with a very slight delay.

I'm about to order a unlocked SIM free version of this - one website I saw said these phones lock to the network of the first SIM you put in - is this true in general? How would I then unlock it?

No sign of Redfox; not sure if that means he now has his phone and is busy playing with it or that he's gone on a rampage :D

Ordered my S4 on Sunday night after finding a cracking deal on Mobiles.co.uk but now I'm worried they made an error.

Basically, it's an upgrade and I pay nothing upfront and get 'The Works' (unlimited calls/text and 1GB data) for £36 a month. That's less than I'm paying for my S2.....

However, when I go on Orange's official site the same deal (even on upgrade) requires a £99 upfront fee.....

My order is still on the first stage of 'Order Submitted', and they're supposed to be delivering it tomorrow! Probably give them a ring later but I can tell something's not right. Thought it was too good to be true

Fancied a swap and left my old htc 8x for a shiny new sim free s4 from cpw. I was set on the one when I walked in, but the fabled quality of the one didn't do it for me in the shop... Just felt abit slab like.

Really happy with the s4, put on my old android setup of nova launcher happy days...nothing bad about the device really other than it feels abit slimy in your hand

That's £810 all in, it isnt that good tbh. Id hold out and look for other deals. It's shame that chitter chatter's handset prices have gone up as they were offering a much better deal - £26/month on t-mobile full monty (unlimited internet) and £99 upfront = £723. Most of us who went for it got a further £50 off through quidco as well. It was the best widely available 24 month deal I could see. It was enough for me to not bother upgrading my orange account.

Keep looking IMO as there are bound to be better deals available. Saying that though, chitter chatter do have it up for £31/month and £80 upfront. That's £824 so £14 more than your deal but it's unlimited internet. I think that's worth the extra 14 quid.
