What film did you watch last night?

texas chainsaw (newest one)

meh

Just your typical teenage slasher/horror film and the ending was just unbelievably stupid but it was enjoyable enough to watch :p

5/10

Beautiful Creatures - 6/10

Felt a little too Twilighty for my taste but it killed a couple of hours.

Not enough Emily Rossum, which was disappointing :(

There's only one reason it's worth watching and that's the rack on Alexandra Daddario , chech out Barievement for more of that action :)

It Might Get Loud.

A documentary on the electric guitar from the point of view of three significant rock musicians: the Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White.

Very interesting for lovers of music and the guitar. Good stuff! Page is a bloody cool guy.

What I'd give to see the same thing but with Hendrix, Page and Frusciante instead...

The Master - 7/10.

It looks absolutely amazing. The story didn't grip me all that much though. The performances were brilliant however. Joaquin Phoenix in particular.

Two for me in the last few days:-

Total Recall 2012, was better than I thought it would be, it lost a lot of the cheesiness of the Arnie one but lost other things as well. Overall though I did enjoy it (probably more than I should have done). The feel of it as the future vision of the world came through in the first half was really well done, I thought that was the best aspect of the film. 3/5

The Night of the Hunter - 1955 drama starring Robert Mitchum as a preacher out to steal from and kill widows thinks that he has hit the mother lode when he meets a bank robber in prison just before he is hanged leaving $10,000 with the wife and kids. This leads to a well played game of cat and mouse with the boy. It was good and quite suspenseful but should have been grittier. 3/5

Cinema Day -

Iron Man 3 - 6/10 - It seemed to be missing the "spark" of the 1st and the Stark/Pots banter of the 2nd (RDJ seemed to be channelling Archer most of the time) but it wasn't bad TBH. It certainly passed my "Am I too engrossed to notice my numb bum after 1hr" 'o' meter and some of the set pieces were amazing, if slightly confusing with everything going on on screen.

Star Trek Into Darkness - 7/10 - A much better film than the 1st with a seriously good character and well acted performance in John Harrison. Again passed the numb bum test with flying colours although the 3D did nothing for me as I barely noticed it.

Olympus has Fallen - 4/10 - Far too much "'Murica, **** Yeah!" (some bits were unintentionally quite funny because of it) made it feel like a cheap mans Die Hard however the initial battle scenes were very well done with some very good CGI involved. However some serious storyline plot holes ruined what should have been a much better ending.

Hold the same opinion about recall myself, word for.

Startrek for me today, fantastic.

It's trek for all ages, the flow of the film, the way it constantly breaks out telling itself... so enjoyable.

If the team that whacked this one together is left alone by disney to do their own thing with starwars i have high hopes.

Friday - The Ruins. The Beach meets Evil Dead meets some other random gore flick. Was OK but certainly wouldn't watch it again. 5/10

Yesterday Star Trek Into Darkness. Really liking these films. It's like J. J. Abrams found a guide on how to make films I like - then made them :) 8/10

Tonight I watched Inbetweeners. Rarely funny - mainly cringe-worthy. 4/10

The Numbers Station - www.imdb.com/title/tt1659338/

John Cusack in a role similar to that of his earlier classic Grosse Pointe Blank where he plays a suited hitman.

Really disappointed. Very slow with no real build up or change of pace.

5/10 because he plays a convincing hitman, but overall the film sucked.

What a weird film this was, the story was very much incomplete and John really didn't seem to have his heart in it.
It ended with all kinds of unresolved strands.

So you've got a terrorist cell who have managed to infiltrate all the way to the level of knowing the 15 people that need retiring, the keycodes needed to gain access and the setup involved, and that cell consists of.... 3 people?, all of which descended on the site?... silly error.

Next up is the inconsistency of John retiring the barman and then telling his broadcaster that nobody makes it out of the game alive, only for them to be given the chance to start afresh at the end, very strange.

Got half way through ARGO (2012) before it was time to switch off and settle down for the night, a pretty good spy thriller so far, loved it when John Goodman entered stage right to the sound of "Hip Hugger" by Booker T and the MGs, and it really made my night when Alan Arkin turned up too.
Can't wait to get back and finish it.

Argo****yourself!

Dark Skies
7/10

Actually has a decent ending for a horror/sci-fi type movie, the endings to those are usually awful!

I watched Sanctum again yesterday - 8/10. It's based on a true story, and cave diving both scares and intrigues me so really gave me the creeps in some parts. Really enjoyed it.

I aso watched Life As We Know It – 6/10. I was expecting comedy throughout, but actually bubbled in a few parts hehe :) Still quite an enjoyable easy watch.

I watched The Inbetweeners last night too. Agreed it wasn't that good at all with few (if any?) laugh out loud moments.
