*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

How do you mean? The SIM doesn't really have anything to do with it. O2 will sell you the S4 for £430. The SIM and Air Time is basically optional.
The sim is kind of mandatory if you want to use the phone. Whether it comes with it as part of the deal or you supply your own doesn't really matter. Its the total cost of ownership that people should be comparing if they want to talk about costs, and that includes airtime, however sourced.

£430 for S4, £16 a month times 12 = £622

which is only 52 quid less then my contract and I dont have a discounted sim, like most of us I expect. Mines a 24 month contract too - there are cheaper 18 month deals around.

Yes you need a SIM, but that is a variable, so would be silly for us to include if we're discussing SIM free prices. Due to O2's structure, I'm in the SIM free discussion.

If you do buy it as part of a contract, yes you need to, but that's a separate comparison/discussion to the SIM free discussions.

I've bought mine for £430, with interest free payments as long as I want.

Not really. Look at all this talk about Amazon prices. When has anyone said "But what SIM are you using? How much is it a month?"

They don't. It's irrelevant.

But I don't want a 2 year contract, I already have one. It's going to be a better deal if you sign up for 2 years. Surely you understand that?

Again, contract, subsidised phones and SIM free need to be separate comparisons.

Can see the room behind me XD this is scaled down lol for size.

It is not even the best I could take as i was impatient to do the right exposure/focus etc.

Silly question. Why are people buying third party screen protectors such as the Spigen Steinheil screen protector? Does the S4 not come with one? Is the Gorilla Glass 3 not good enough?

Extra protection really, the S4 doesn't come with one.

The GG3 is good enough but I think it's more of a peace of mind thing having a screen protector on. Mind you, page 8 of the user manual says not to use a screen protector as it will cause malfunctions :o

OK guys going to root my S4 today.

If I can get all the easy to understand info sorted.

I'm having issues with the clock/alarm not working and I cant change the default notification on texts (android.blah.blah has stopped)

Any tips.

I know I posted in another thread offering advice but has anyone found which is the simplest and easiest way to root and run the latest software

Gorilla glass is still glass, not diamond. Obviously it can still be scratched by many things.

Trying to have a play around with slow motion video recording but cannot see an option for it. The only options I can see are 'Normal' and 'Limit for MMS'. Am I doing something stupid?

Impressive sales figures, predictably, I expect they've already sold more than the Ho or XZ will sell over the year, lol.

Sales of Sony Xperia Z, company's latest flagship device, have topped 4.6 million in just 40 days, a report indicates

Better than I expected from Sony and tbh I have seen more XZs in my day to day life than GS4s. Still Samsung/Apple sales figures will dwarf Sony's for a while yet.
