*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Just reading a few forums and as expected, quite a few people are ****ed about the GS 4 nexus.

Regarding the stock android GS 4:

Unless you have the i9500 version I don't see why this would be depressing. AOSP By google means devs will have the sources needed to build a perfect CM 10.1 & AOKP rom.

No confirmation of AOSP support yet. Just stock Android. There is a difference (see the I/O Tab 10.1 - stock Android but not AOSP.)

If it's Snapdragon, AOSP support will be nice but not critical thanks to CAF. If it's Exynos, AOSP support will be a gamechanger.

I really want the AOSP dialer and phone book on the S4 - is that possible on TW?

Not possible on any phone afaik, surprisingly, since you can get pretty much all the other apps

Best you can do, is install this:

No idea :p Just came across it when browsing XDA, wouldn't have posted it if it was just some general user but that guy who posted it is a Elite Recognized Developer.

Guessing it means that it is pretty important, at least to be getting the latest update fast without bugs/niggles anyway.

BTW has it actually been confirmed that the GS 4 nexus is using the snapdragon chipset? Don't forget the Korean GS 4 supports LTE. I would be surprised if it isn't the snapdragon version though.......

Just snapped one up on the bay brand new still in box for £419, really don't need one but I love shiny new things!
Still once I've recycled my S3 it's only cost me £240

Does anyone know if there is a way to output from the S4 to RCA cables, and power the phone.

I'd rather not have to do

S4 > HDMI > Digital to analogue converter > RCA > Headunit.

Also, will things like docks and cradles made for the S3 fit the S4?

So ive downloaded the CF-Auto-Root file. Could someone please give me a step by step guide on what i need to do to root my S4 please , as i don't understand what its asking me to do on XDA.

I just searched for my local shopping centre to see what time it was open to on my home computer - without touching my phone in notifications it had worked out my ETA to the shops!!! WTF!!! My iphone never did stuff like that!!

I was afraid this would happen sooner or later, It has become self aware! Get out of the house. NOW!

This is a surprising move, wouldn't have thought Google would have supported a device with a menu button when they deprecated it a while back? Surely conflicts with their design goals? Wonder who paid who in this deal or even who instigated it :p

Although the HTC One has great aesthetics it would be very difficult to pass on a properly Google supported S4

And also a SD slot!?

Curious as to how the GS 4 nexus came about as well??? Makes you wonder why HTC/google don't do something similar with the one....

I wonder how HTC will react, probably do what Sony do, release an AOSP ROM/build?

Still mixed feelings as to which I would prefer between stock android GS 4 and touchwiz GS 4; nice UI/colour scheme, fast and guaranteed support but limited features and possibly worse camera quality VS feature rich, good camera quality but awful colour scheme/stock apps and is bloated.

If only we could combine the best of sense, touchwiz and stock all into one

I think something must be involved between Google and Samsung, but then again could be nothing :p

If HTC did that it would be great but I'm not sure it's a direction they would necessarily want to move in.

I very much doubt you will see any of the touchwiz stuff on the GS 4 nexus stoosh.

Perhaps developers could do something about combining them, however, I doubt that will happen either i.e. with the nexus one and desire, galaxy s 1 and nexus s, you couldn't do that, either had to use stock android or a proper sense/touchwiz rom

Mmmm...so it's basically a choice roll with a ASOP ROM S4 and forget about all the Touchwiz implementations (granted some handy, some not so)

It all comes down to choice then...Think I'll keep my N4 for the stock experience (albeit modified PA) and reap the benefits of a Touchwiz enabled S4. ;)

@stoosh - I meant we get a bug free AOSP for the S4.

So if we want to try all the new features of 4.3, we just do a Nandroid, try it out and keep it for a while till TW catches up.

All round good news for the STANDARD S4.

That all depends on what version of the S4 Google use Mate. It hasn't been made clear yet, but it can be very advantageous if the Google Experience S4 is based on the i9505 ;)

Like you said we can backup our current ROM and try it out and if we get bored switch back to TW. Sounds like a decent plan! :)

I really can't wait for my S4 to arrive tomorrow!

@Nexus and kona Thanks for your input / advice to the both of you! :D
