The worst service you've ever received?

For me it has to be pretty much every Weatherspoons pub I've ever been in. Woefully understaffed all the time with regular waits of up to 20mins just to get a drink!
O cd when I did get served, I pointed out the guy next to me was there first, the bar parson said "I'm serving at this bar, ill decide who's next! I was speechless.

Legal & General

Got both our policies wrong - Had phone call after phone call with them for six months. Recorded everything and printed out every single email. Had enough in the end and faxed over the lot. Cancelled policy and got full refund.

Bellway Homes

Negotiated a great deal with bellway on our new house. Managed to get pretty much everything thrown in and £50k off the house to sweeten the deal. Unfortunately we had issues accessing the garage once we moved in. They refused to do anything saying it was within spec of the plans. Got the help from a London based solicitor firm who does all the big cases. Within a week we received a cheque from bellway for 20k to agree everything was ok with the garage :D

Hughes Direct

Bought a Bluray player from them which had a firmware bug. Sent it back twice but they kept returning it back with no fault found. Argued with them for weeks. Decided to post a nasty comment on their facebook and twitter account. Full refund the next day :D

BT

Spent weeks on their customer helpine trying to get a MAC code to migrate to another provider. Seemed openreach and BT were going back and forth playing the blame game. Emailed the CEO of BT. MAC code arrived that same day and had no end of follow up calls from senior execs asking if I was happy

If you kick up enough of a stink you get sorted in the end

Samsung, by far.

My Galaxy Note 2 developed a fault, I rang Samsung, they advised I take it to my local repair centre which I did. They told me there it should take around a week to repair, they would be shipping it to another repair centre to carry out the repair and they will call me once it's back.

1 week later - I hadn't heard back from them so thought I'd ring them for an update. The phone was still sat at the repair centre waiting to be shipped to the other repair centre, it hadn't actually moved.

2 weeks later - I rang them again, they said the phone is currently being repaired.

3 weeks later - I have rang Samsung several times by this point really kicking off at the length of time it's taking to get my phone fixed, and because of the lack of updates. Every time I was told I will get a call back, I never did. Anyway, at around the 3 week point I get a call from them saying come collect it, it's been fixed. I go to the repair centre to find it has been fixed, but now has a dent in it. I refuse to accept it back, they say it has to go back once again to the repair centre who repaired it.

4 weeks later - I've complained several times as I'm still without a phone, they don't give two hoots. They fob you off, their CS dept is a complete joke. One of their advisors, a bimbo called Jordan actually said 'we don't normally repair phones with physical damage' as though I should be grateful they are fixing the dent which they put in my phone.

5 weeks later - I get a message saying my phones repaired. I go to collect it to find the exact same dent is still there. I have absolutely no idea what they had been repairing. The guy at the repair centre advised me not to send it back to them again and put a note on the receipt that he had seen it and confirmed the dent was still there. I left with the phone and again contacted Samsung. I managed to get through to someone via an email link on their site who after 5 weeks, arranged for a replacement handset to be sent out. I tell him I've been without a phone for 5 weeks so I will not be sending mine anywhere until I first receive the replacement.

6 weeks later - Parcel arrives for me from Samsung. It turns out to be the wrong phone in the wrong colour, with someone elses name and address on one side of the parcel, and my details on the other. You couldn't make this up.

7 weeks later - Courier arrives to collect the wrong handset, and delivers me a parcel. Finally, the correct phone arrives, which I promptly put on sale and sell. Samsung meanwhile continue to email me trying to arrange collection of my damaged handset which still works fine but has a dent in it. I am ignoring their emails and giving them a taste of their own medicine. The last email I received from them a few days ago said the matter has now been passed on to their legal team lol.

**** you Samsung. I will return the handset once you have waited the same length of time that I was made to wait and no sooner. Understand? :)

Mine was without a shadow of doubt Best Buy. My parents for christmas bought me a pair of Turtle Beach MW3 edition headphones that cost around £200. When i tryed them out they had tons of interference through the frequency of the wireless adapter. So i went to return them and they were closing down at the time so they said no refunds etc and i was telling them its faulty. So they got there " geek squad " to look at them, saying nope there perfectly fine to which i asked if he'd tried them online and connected to the internet and he explained they didnt have that facility there so he couldnt test it, so i refused to take them back, had a few managers see me etc etc and eventually because they could test them properly i got my refund it took a good 3 hours (inc 1 hour for them to test them) to get my refund, i wont ever buy anything from them again nightmare for refunds.

Orange - renewed my contract, asked if I could have a discount on my line rental, which they said they could do. I get my bill a month later and end up with £60 of data charges because the moron changed my plan without telling me and removed my data allowance.

Two contracts for myself, and one for my wife resulted in a similar situation with Orange. Completely bloody useless. They did eventually sort it out, but it took two months on each occasion for them to get their act straight (three months in one case when they kept making screw ups).

A car garage gave me a quote for MOT, which involved brake work. I decided to get my own new calipers instead and just get them to do the work. After collection I found out it was more than their original quote because "we weren't making profit on the calipers". Not only that.. before I left with the car they said "Be careful, the brakes are super sharp now". Fair enough. I drove the car away, and could got down the hill for the brakes to barely work, I had to pump them to get them to work each time. As it turns out (my assumption), they had completely missed bleeding the front brakes. I just finished the work myself when I got home. As out 500 person office building is about literally around the corner, I advised my friends not to trust them... lost business on their part.

Note: Normally I do all my own car work, and everytime I get a car back I always check my cars and sometimes have to fix their screw-ups.

Awesome, I think you should make up stories and send them emails about whats going on with the replacement handset and keep delaying it untill the 7 weeks are up

EA. i bought a BRAND NEW copy of Crysis for PC, and i went to register the serial key, it said it was invalid. this is a known issue online, apparantly the game needed to be patched for it to register properly. patched it, but it then said the code had been used (possibly in the attempt to register first when it failed) they basically called me a liar and said we want photo evidence of the receipt and of the serial. did this, they gave me another key, that didnt work.
Gave up in the end,** We do not encourage illegal downloading for any reason ** , i bought the game anyway, it was only a fiver on sale so i wasn't too fussed.

Wetherspoons, when I enquired about the 8 "chips" on my plate and was basically told you get what you pay for by the manager and then head office via email.

Without doubt the World Champion of terrible service has to be the Old NTL.

They peed me off so much I threatened to hunt down the call centre bloke and his supervisor and shoot them in front of their families.

Virgin Media made vast improvements though this is now slipping back to their bad old ways a little.

Virgin Media...

I've had a serious issue for almost a year now that still hasn't been resolved.

I've had engineers confirm the issue and also sent Virgin Media videos for them to just tell me they will not do anything about it.

Thinking about it I'd have to say Virgin Media as well. I had an issue confirmed by the level 3 engineering team to be a problem, and was given an estimated fix date 10 months in the future. At the time there was no broadband competition in my area so I had little choice. The fix date came around and no improvement, but by this stage BT Infinity was available so I threatened to take them to court if they wouldn't cancel my contract there and then.

I can get up to 8 meg on BT atm and I'll have to pay £130 to get a second line put in so I can have the hub upstairs in a bedroom.

Atm I am a little screwed but the moment BT Infinity is available (no plans in my area) I'll jump on it.

I've had multiple engineers confirm the problem and check all the systems in my house to make sure nothing at my end is at fault and then he just said "Oh but there isn't anything we will do about it".

Sky, cancelled my package for the 8th April, as bill had already been processed they took a further payment, rang up to find out what was going on and was told that it would be refunded to me on the 6th May when the next round of bills was processed, phoned 2 days ago as money still hadn't been refunded to be told that the refunds aren't processed automatically and she would process it then, won't get my refund til Monday at the earliest. Poor firm Sky, poor form

Vodafone... Oh god the pain! Still a dagger in my side.

Took out a phone contract, from day 1 it was a nightmare. The biggest issues were giving them my money!!! Each month they wouldn't try and take the money stating the bank refused them. I tried everything, new accounts, both normal Visa Debit, IAS Debit, Credit Card... The lot. Each time (over 2 banking society's) they said no... And obviously charged me each time. In the end, I stopped paying and stopped using my phone and waiting for them to send a collection amount to a debt collectors and close the account.

I just didn't want to deal with them that much.

Now, got a letter from a collection agency. Brilliant, ring them up, go to pay the full amount happily to get this all over and done with. Nope, they said, a week in, Vodafone have retracted the sum to be owed and the collection agency told me to call Vodafone.

Call Vodafone, and I'm told it's with the collection agency. Spoke to a really helpful chap (at the collection agency) who said, simply wait for a letter from either another agency or Vodafone. And how this is normal from Vodafone.

I was literally begging Vodafone last time I spoke to them to let me just pay what ever I owe and forget I ever had dealings with them. Nope... Nothing.

I might just forget it. I never used my phone anyway as I had a company mobile. But one thing is for sure, I will never suggest Vodafone to anyone. Even if they were 50% cheaper than all the competition in the world.

Awful company.

Some nasty experiences here. Suddenly mine doesn't look too bad. Though I'm convinced this saga isn't over as the delivery guy sounded a bit vague on the phone. I fully expected having to cause one more scene before I finally take delivery.

Jamie's Restaurant (Jamie Oliver chain) in Leeds.

Order a £17/18 seafood risotto (clams, prawns, white fish etc.) and got 1/ONE/A SINGLE prawn in it. Spoke to the waiter who didn't really seem bothered. He went to speak to the manager, who came over and said these exact words:

"I understand you think we're ripping you off?"

I never said those words at all, but anyway. He then went on to explain that the portions are carefully measured out and that I should only have got 2 prawns anyway, so it wasn't that bad really and nothing to be so upset about. You really don't want to hear this when you've spent the best part of £20 on a main. Anway, off he goes, then 5 minutes later comes back, when I'm pretty much on my last mouthful with a bowl full of over cooked rubbery prawns and tosses them on the table, without so much as a "there you go, sorry".

Went a month before with my parents and my dad's main came out cold once, luke warm the second time and overcooked the third time because they just blasted in the microwave.

It truly is a rip off that place. Especially when you see Jamie Oliver on TV dribbling all over his dishes, going "whack a bit o that in, chuck a load of this in! etc.

Two prawns.

What a disgrace.
