Can't stand foxes purely because of the ruddy awful noise they make in towns, we back on to a train station(sunken) in London which means we have one, a huge garden, and two, ruddy foxes, they move along railway lines all around london. The noise they produce both mating season and then when the kids fight are particularly awful, ripping apart rubbish, digging up gardens/vegetable beds, leaving a mess everywhere and chasing cats.
Not too long ago actually I saw our male cat, almost twice the size of our female cat, suddenly appeared in the middle of our garden looking scared, then a fox appeared and he ran up on top of a small table which for no apparent reason has a couple boxes on it so jumped to the top and the fox standing at the bottom getting ready to go for him. A few seconds later the female cat appeared at the bottom of the garden and ran straight at the fox, which saw her, and fled at lightning speed, at which point both cats ran directly to the cat flap, complete with biggest bushiest tails I'd ever seen on them. She is normally a completely scared cat and he's normally much braver, but it would seem like she saw her brother in trouble and ran to the rescue, was awesome.
The foxes certainly give chase to our cats every now and then, but sometimes they chase back. In that situation it was a particularly big fox, normally we get the younger foxes playing around and they are a hell of a lot more scared of our cats, the big ones though sometimes think its game on.
