** PRE ORDER YOUR NEXT GENERATION CONSOLE AT OVERCLOCKERS UK **

Honestly this comes across as downright immoral to me, charging more than you know it will be on purpose AND charging people now, taking the interest and then refunding the rest back later..... IF and I mean IF people genuinely thought it might be £600, then it came out at £300, thats fine, but purposefully asking for basically twice as much and asking to hold on to the funds now, is downright shady behaviour for a company.

If anything AT ALL I would say charge peopel £50 now as a deposit, and then charge the rest later.

there is no official price.

if someone wants it they will order it and have a console with their name on launch day.

if someone doesn't want it, then they don't have to order one.

the option is there for people looking at getting one.

and a refund [if needed] will be processed when official pricing is released, not when the console is released.

the pricing is a direct lift from a major competitor.

we are not making any claims that the money isnt taken immediately.

the console is more likely to be closer to [if not more than] this price upon launch.

thinking it will be anywhere near £300 is, shall we say.

hopeful

just VPNd into work.

We have sold two on pre order already :)

Great.. Can you explain why you feel it necessary to take the full amount of money as opposed to just reserving the console for somebody until a RRP has been established?

Probably so they don't end up with a warehouse full of consoles when people cancel their preorders on MS releasing another nugget of less-than-desirable news, which may well happen.

look guys, i will be honest with you.

we had two options.

1. £20-£50 pre order place holders
2. match major competitors place holder price.

we chose the second. its simple as that.

you can always order closer to the time when it will be updated with official pricing once announced, the place holder places are there for people who want their names first on the list.

personally i wouldnt stand outside a highstreet store for days waiting to be the first to get the new console, but other people do and I can appreciate why.

there are some people who want to avoid that faff entirely and just get their order in first, avoid the queues, beat the demand and have a guaranteed console on day one with no drama.

this is for them.

guys, if the price bothers you, hold fire until we have official pricing.

My estimate personally is that if the major competition are pricing it at this sort of level for a place holder, then it wont be that much cheaper.

Oh come on, you seriously think it may be more than £600? How many other consoles can you think of that launched at that price? How well did the PS3 do at launch at £425? You think either of them would go for even more than that??

I'd be seriously amazed if that turns out to be true, and I certainly won't be taking the option out on my £20 pre-order I currently have with a large supermarket if it's anything like that.

It's not the price that is confusing people, it's the fact you take the money. No other place seems to do this leaving people with no real reason to pre-order from you.

But you couldnt be bothered to match them in how they deal with that pre-order and wait until dispatch to charge the item? Like what the vast majority of online retailers do with pre-orders?

So poor . Says a lot about the company...

ps3ud0

Agree taking the money upfront is a big no no, when such a long period until release.

Also i would expect it to come in at £350 ish or they may charge £400 with a bungled game ie kinect adventure type game, there is no way it will be even in the £600 region if they want to sell any units. Most likely my guess would be the £400 region.
