Takeaway Delivery Driver Job

I used to do this for domino's, I wouldn't bother unless I had a supply of cheap throw away cars to use. Minimum wage and 75p - £1 for deliveries, Single trips would lose you money on fuel so double or triple were the only way to cover fuel costs. You then have wear and tear on your car so dont use anything worth keeping.

For comparison to the OP I also did a bit of cover work for a friend at the chippy, 5-10pm or 5-9pm on a sunday, I sat at home until there was a delivery, sometimes there were none till 7pm and I got paid £15 a night basic. I got the delivery charge's too which started at £1.50 and went to about £3. Some nights I would be out for 30 mins and earn £20-22 with fuel around £3 and other nights I would be flat out and do about 25 deliveries and take home around £60 and fuel around £15.

18 years ago or so I also worked at a chinese, even back then I got paid more than the OP, £15 a night and £1 delivery, bearing in mind 4* was only about 75p a litre :D

Knowing how many of the pepperoni pieces you can eat off the pizza without the customer noticing.

People keep saying wear and tear on your car.

Why would you rattle any car to deliver pizza for someone else's excessive profit?

Wear and tear based on the mileage, so tyres, suspension parts wear, and general engine wear. Services are required more regularly, higher mileage equals more depreciation.

However if you can run a £250 fiesta for a year or so, then you might just make a few quid.

Well my car is just a 11 year old 206 daily driver but at the end of the day it's my only car.

Hey, at least it's still more money than I earned doing Betterware deliveries. Average weekly earnings must have been £50. One lady also thought I had just been released from prison.

I did that when I was 16 and I made £8 in the first week. Delivering 300 catalogues, collecting them back in, going out a second time to collect the missed ones, then delivering the orders. Did it a couple of weeks then jacked it in.

If you already had a moped with carry box and nothing better to do it might make more sense...

Moped might be alright if you live in a city and are only riding around on 30mph roads around the city. Here my town is surrounded by farming, countyside and NSL roads to outlaying villages and places. No good for a ped.

My sister did this on the side for a while and made okay money the normal wage wasn't great but delivery cost and then tips she made few £100 a month overall but did work quite a few nights.

However.....
She did it in winter when it was incredibly windy and had bins flying out across the road hitting her car and broke a headlight/cracked bumpers. Car has been run into the ground and is pretty much dead now, she got it around 5-6 years ago. It wasn't brand new then was from a car shop place but had low milage, she clocked up a lot driving around for that job.

The mileage in that job is murder on a car, it might only be 350-400 a week but it's all stop start around town driving.

1995? It would have been cheaper than that, closer to 50p. It sticks in my mind that 58.9p/litre was a good price in 1998, although plenty of places it was 60p+

Wouldn't have been bad if the Chinese paid min wage + delivery charges but I bet they have been paying the same £12 per 4.5 hour shift since 1995.

Apparently it's £15 for a 5 hour shift, which I ended up doing anyway due to the last delivery. Well and truly ripped off.

As mentioned earlier, it's also not legal.

I'd have half a mind to report them for, quite frankly, taking the pish.

Yes but is it not classed as self-employed meaning they can pay what they like (even if it takes the ****) and not be bound by NMW rules?
