Does anyone follow the Ligue 1 here? How highly would you rate Lille manager Rudi Garcia? He's been mentioned a lot with Roma, as apparently he wants to leave. Is he ready to guide a team to the top of the table (although I know he won a Ligue 1 title a few years back) and what formation does he play?

''including the old fashioned job of simply being a midfielder'' if i was a united fan, i wouldn't be too excited about that.

well edited:rolleyes:

Not specialised for attack or defense? Could already argue we have 2/3 of those.

Anderson is awful (and will hopefully leave), and Jones isnt really a midfielder to start with, while Scholes has just left, so it could be argued if /when he arrives Strootman would be above those players to start with (compared to last season's squad)

Well I was talking Carrick and Cleverley mostly. Neither are really out and out defensive or attacking, both are all rounders. Jones is not a damn midfielder, Moyes should have a clause in his contract where he is fired on the spot if he sticks him there. Rio would be better in midfield than Jones if we absolutely must play people out of position.

We need two central midfielders really depending on people leaving and what formation we're going to play.

Id like Moyes to stick with the 442 attacking wingers format. Problem is, im not sure how to integrate Kagawa in that and I think he absolutely HAS to be used next season almost every game.

Kagawa's integration depends on WR surely. Both of them are better off just behind RvP

Reports that there is a "gentleman's agrrement" for Garay to join Utd from Benfica for 20m euros /£17m. This rumour has been floating around since Jan possibly even before that, not sure if there is any validity to it.

Doh!! (at myself). True although I seem to recall Carrick being very offensively minded for Spurs (although that was 7+ years ago admittedly). I always thought Cleverley was more offensive in the junior ranks, but he has been played as a general midfielder for the most part. Im just hoping for a firm tackler (without any Scholes type tackles mind you).

City have agreed a fee for Navas. Will be around 25m Euro, I wonder how much £100k a week played a part in making sure he won't get homesick. :D

Am I missing something, he's 27, gets homesick, dislikes travel, had 80 shots with a grand total of ZERO goals this year, and 6 assists.... screams 25mil.

City have no genuine wingers, but also Nasri and Silva who are both, weak ass midget's, neither who are great in terms of pure power. Okay they might not be able to get Ronaldo, but surely if they are buying a winger they need a someone a significant amount better than Navas. Navas is better than he was this year, but not hugely so, I'd call him a 5 goal 10 assist player, which isn't terrible, but I'd say that is in his home league where he's comfortable but has had serious issues with travelling outside Spain.

When he finally played a few games for Spain, he could beat a man, but his end product was "meh". He was closer to SWP/Walcott(without the luck)/Lennon a few years ago, than a genuinely good end product type of winger. Oh well, happy for City to spend it on him than someone genuinely brilliant. I think he'll struggle both with his homesickness issues, and his size and style of league.

45k a week ;)

Will be interesting to see how he adapts though. He has said he isn't affected anymore and already to move.

If he had never had this problem there is no doubt he would playing for Real or Barca I reckon.

DM, you say we should buy someone else yet have no knowledge whatsoever of who is available, who we have spoke to and ultimately who has turned us down. So Navas could well be the best of the rest.

Mancini tried for three years to bring in Lavezzi, Sanchez and Hazard and we failed every time. Finally we brought in Sinclair!
So either our management team don't have a clue about football and only know of a limited set of players or every time we go in for one of the best wingers we get rejected so they have just decided going for Navas is our only option.

Be interesting to see how Navas adapts in the Prem, both physically and mentally. Was a top player a few seasons ago but hasn't really been the same for a while.

According to Baldini it looks like Fulham's deal with Maarten Stekelenberg will be done within 24/48 hours.

I'm surprised City haven't gone in for someone like Hulk who is a good player but clearly just wants money and doesn't really care where he plays.

The fact Hulk is incredibly overrated and really not that good would be the reason why I would think.

19.5m for Navas + 3.5m in clauses is the rumor and all that is needed is the official announcement.

Also the only problem with Isco is wages, Graham Hunter saying we either sort it out or he us going to Real.

Santos back at Arsenal. This makes me sad.

Denilson and Squillaci gone. Yay.

Eh??? thought we had got rid of that muppet once and for all...if not please Wenger make it your top priority to sell Santos or hell give him away for free please:p

Well at least Denilson and Squillaci, both terrible players have finally been given the boot. Some more clearing out to do though, Diaby, Gervinho, Chamakh, Rosicky and Sagna are a few that need to be shipped out this summer and get some decent replacements in.

He was out on loan. That loan spell has now ended.
