Islamic Centre destroyed in 'racist attack'

Self-defence or "eye-for-an-eye", the cause of the violence was what I was trying to get at. Apologies for causing offence, but it gets hard to see the distinction between blanket statements and specific responses sometimes.

An eye for an eye isn't the same as self defence though, not in the slightest but I appreciate the apology, it does get my back up a bit when I feel I'm being tarred with the same brush as the racists around here.

Most insurgents are rather young and lack much in the way of Education - they kind of skipped high school...

Not sure if you are meaning exclusively 'insurgents', but being in a thread more about 'extremists' then that is not an accurate description at all, as there is no common profile for the people who become radicalised, they can come from all social strata.

What do you know about these tribal issues, you've never been to any of these countries.

Given numerous polls taken in these countries, where a large percentage of people feel the war is against Islam as a whole it is hardly a surprising conclusion to come too.

People feeling the war is against Islam != people linking it to the crusades

I'm talking about insurgents.... its slightly derailed from the main thread yes.

I watched a video a while back that argused the crusades themselves were a response to Islamic aggression and the video shows a timeline of historical battles that successfully conveys Christianity getting its ass kicked for quite some time, going on assult and never quite recovering to the degree they'd already lost.

I wonder how far we'll need to dig to figure out which of our really rather dead and forgotton ancestors threw the first stone. :p

Actually the docu on BBC showed that it was one rogue muslim leader who for whatever reason decided to burn down a church (i thought they were of a quality build ;) ) which started the resentment for christian, however that leader got toppled and a new leader immediately re-build that church. Before and after taht incident, muslims & non-muslims lived harmoniously.

Unlike when crusades started, the crusaders killed anyone in their path (muslims and non-muslims!)

Ahh, just read the last page and yet again I see Craterloads answering questions with questions and never giving an actual answer...no change there then!

Was an article on BBC new earlier, not sure if it's still on, where he stated he found the attack to be a disgrace. He also came up with the fair argument that just because someone sprays their name (EDL) somewhere, doesn't mean it was an EDL member, it could be someone just looking to cause trouble for them. Strangely enough I think that was the opinion of some people earlier in the thread. Unfortunately I think one of those people was Kwerk!
