What's the best root out there for an s4?

Also can someone point me in the direction of an idiots guide to rooting :p and what are the main benefits of rooting?

Easy way to root is to flash a pre-rooted rom from here - MEA is one of the latest, so you'll root and update your rom at the same time.

Pick:

Model: GT-I9505 (4.2.2)
PDA: XXUBMEA
PHONE: XXUBMEA
CSC: OXABMEA (MultiCSC - 8 codes)
Kernel: 3.4.0-768421 (30.05)
Build Date: 29.05.2013
Changelist: 768421

choose the below file

Pre-Rooted ROM: Downloads: <<< Hotfile >>> or <<< Android Host >>>

Use the Android host as its faster to download.

Once you have downloaded the ROM, put your phone in download mode and open Odin and flash the ROM as PDA.

Watch this video on how to use odin:

Benefits of rooting:

- Proper adblocker
- Use extra settings in apps that need root access e.g. Nova launcher, hide time on desktop status bar
- Delete system apps (bloat)
- Make full app backups with games saves, app settings etc using Titanium Backup.

Next step is to install a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. This enables you to install custom roms, tweaks, system wide themes etc.

You can also use it to make a backup image of your whole rom and settings.

Would you chaps help a fellow out and tell me if this is a reasonable contract deal from chitter chatter:

£89 - Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Mist
Pay Monthly £27 (24 Months)
500 Minutes / Month
Unlimited Texts / Month
Unlimited* Internet Included
Network - T-Mobile

£42 cashback from TCB

The 500 minutes included will be more than adequate for my needs.

I'm going doolally looking at all the deals on offer. If this one is average or slightly above average I'll take a chance on it.

Cheers

The standard apps to SD is a pointless feature though isn't it? The main problem is big game data which it doesn't move. You need root for that.

well thats annoying - just got my wiqiqi wireless charging kit through and while it works perfectly (the the s-view case even fully closes, and it'll charge through the front cover if its folded back on its self) it gets in the way of the NFC chip in the battery so nfc tags aren't detected at all :(

Damn thats annoying! why the hell did they put the NFC chip in the battery, its a stupid place to have it & makes it hard to scan tags - would be much better to have it on the top edge of the phone- grrr

for the amount i use the NFC i think i'll be getting rid of the QI wireless charger - and after I paid import on it too!

Generally auto connecting to blutooth speakers and headsets plus setting profiles for now. I also demo some shopping apps for work that use NFC for product data :)
