*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Ive ran into a problem...

Wanted a clean install so in Download mode installed I9505XXUBMEA-PRE-ROOTED-ODEX-FULL.tar.md5 in Odin
Then installed Recovery using Odin after system booted up.
Copied FoxHound Rom over to phone.
Rebooted into recovery.
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Install FoxHound.
Installs fine and then i reboot.
Reboots...see GT9505 boot image......reboots again...goes into recovery...

Any ideas why its doing this?

There is only one version of FoxHound...right?

Easy way to root is to flash a pre-rooted rom from here - MEA is one of the latest, so you'll root and update your rom at the same time.

Pick:

choose the below file

Use the Android host as its faster to download.

Once you have downloaded the ROM, put your phone in download mode and open Odin and flash the ROM as PDA.

Watch this video on how to use odin:

Benefits of rooting:

- Proper adblocker
- Use extra settings in apps that need root access e.g. Nova launcher, hide time on desktop status bar
- Delete system apps (bloat)
- Make full app backups with games saves, app settings etc using Titanium Backup.

Next step is to install a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. This enables you to install custom roms, tweaks, system wide themes etc.

You can also use it to make a backup image of your whole rom and settings.

Youtube is your friend - watch a load of videos. :)

Done thanks,

For some reason I decided to try this at 11:30 last night only to be pulling my hair out at 12:30 when it failed in Odin and my phone looked bricked. Decided to reinstall Kies at 1:30 and it worked.

Had me worried for a while.

only one version, yes. Start the process again. weird. Dont bother wiping the cache or dalvic before installing foxhound as it does that as part of the install anyway and the instructions dont tell you to wipe them, only data and that's optional.

Redoing it all again from the beginning. Going to download Foxhound again just incase its a corruption issue....

For some reason when i us FH OTA to get 3minit framework. It downloads and then does nothing......doesn't appear in Xposed installer with other modules.....

Lol so reboot into recovery and then just install? or do i have to wipe cache and all that nonsense too?

lol! I don't use it.

The steps are here

1. Connect device to computer and copy the framework to internal memory.
2. Reboot into custom recovery.
3. Flash firmware
4. Download and install settings app either from playstore or download center above
5. Your Done!

Top man :)

Anyway of getting rid of the status bar clock? Dont see an option in settings anywhere.
Not too keen on 3minit framework. It makes the notification shade transparent. I wish i didnt do that :/
