How would you convert somebody to pc gaming?

Buy a game he owns on console on your PC then show him the difference, my friends son could not believe how much better Skyrim looked & played on PC compared to his PS3 then I showed him the amount of mods available for free on Nexus/steam workshop & his jaw dropped to the floor! unfortunately for my friend his son is now hassling him to buy a gaming rig & I have not been invited round since.
 
tbh it will be the other way round once the new consoles hit

why spend thousand quid when you have a small box that does it all for you.

ill stick with pc but pc gaming will take a dive for a few years after the new consoles are released. atleast there will be some great gear at good prices with hard selling :cool: sales down by 10-15 percent on pc gear last year alone and thats without the new console .

that means great gear for us at keen prices :cool:

Think ill stick to pc tbh, the only advantage they have are release titles really and maybe you could argue about a bigger community.

I suppose they're cheaper too though.

it will , it was 15 percent lower last year . now this year you have two major consoles with power similar to a gaming pc with none of the hassle and majority of new titles on them. of course pc gaming sales will fall against it.

pay 800 quid for gaming pc 300-400 for console ?

majority will obviously pick a console.
 
Alienware...My mate needed a new laptop and decided on the MX17 (or whatever it's called), i immediately went to the OcUK website and found two laptops that were better than it and cheaper, i think it was the MSI ones.

Alienware is overpriced, you're best bet is here.
 
On the rare occasion my my friends come round they are more interested in having a play on the steering wheel.

As Jarra said BF3 almost turned them.

Couple of them were playing BF3 on the 360 and I said "wtf is this ****? the best part of the map is missing!"

When they had a play on the pc they couldn't get on with it. This was partly down to using a mouse but more to do with constantly dying because they were playing like they were on the 360 still ie just running through the center of the map not expecting to get shot.
 
Over the first 6 months, the console is cheaper, but as time rolls on it switches.

PC: £900 gets you good PC with 10-15 games in Steam summer sale.
Console: £900 gets you console (£400) plus maybe 10-15 games.

Come Christmas, an extra £100 gets you another 15 PC games in Steam, but only 2-3 games on console.

Oh and also, the new consoles will probably actually help the longevity of PC gaming. Before, they were designing PC games with no set basis as it was a different design on PS3 and 360. Now the games will be very similar across the three platforms, so as long as you have a PC equivalent to PS4, it should be powerful enough to run PC games up to the end of life of the PS4. The designers will likely add extras for those with better PCs, but you will at least know where your bottom end needs to be.

The best way to convert people to PC is to show them the steam sale and how amazing games look on a PC...

My mate recently picked up both Batman games for his 360, cost him £30. i managed to pick them both up in the steam sale for £7-£8.. :)

And i can play Rollercoater Tycoon, he can't :)

But the PS4 and Xbone games may not be £40 on release, but closer to £55. Therefore any sale will bring them down to £40, still around 4 times the price of similarly aged PC games in Steam sales.
 
Its probably the worst time to switch over to PC gaming, almost 0 games are being released in the next 5 months, only game i can think of is Watch Dogs.

That's guessing. Most rumours are pointing at them staying the same price. If console games raise to £55 I think PC games will also rise.
