There's nothing cheeky about it. You would expect a wheel to last more than 6 months (unless you've done serious mileage). Email them and say so, they're usually pretty good.

2000miles or just under, don't think that is anywhere near what a wheel should last, usually check them every other week for troubles too.

probably cost you more to post it back to wiggle than get a shop to sort it.

Last time i got a broken spoke fixed at a bike shop they charged me 9 pence for a new spoke and £5 for truing it.

At 2,000 miles I'd want my money back/a replacement.

If damaged, Wiggle will provide returns labels so you can post to them for free.

Damien: If I want to cycle to Warrington train station am I best following your commute route in and working from there?

Asprilla: I'm meant to be finding you directions across Manchester. I'll post something later.

Stupid thing about wiggle, I ride past them on my way to work, yet they still say no returns to the building...

Have sent off an email asking on next steps for replacement, so will see what they say, have to just ride the mtb now it has a load of new shiny bits on it, was planning to enter a TT with some friends on Thursday but think that is out now :(

Damien - give these tyres a try: http://www.evanscycles.com/products...=mkwid__pcrid_17321847296_kword__match__plid_

Bargain price and I've had no puncture issues since fitting them on my commuter. I got the 25s and they give a nice cushy ride.

I'll give them a try. Thanks :)

For now though, Operation: Honey Badger Don't Give A **** has been a success. The winter tyres are back on and my bike is about 1.1kg heavier. They were good enough for climbing up hills with during the 6mths I had them on for so they'll be fine just for commuting now.

The Durano Plus have been on for about 2700 miles now and although they don't look worn, they're just puncturing for fun.

Yeah pretty much. W'ton Central is just down the road from my work (if you stay on Winwick Rd with Tesco on your right then it's practically straight on when it turns into Winwick St). W'ton Bank Quay isn't far away from there if that's the one you want instead. Make sure you don't miss the detour I take off the A574 between Risley & the Uni of Chester Campus that drops me on Fearnhead Ln. That's to avoid Birchwood Way which can be very busy.

Dont miss out on your TT just for a spoke.

A spoke costs a couple of pounds at most and fitting a single spoke is easy to do yourself or a 10 min job for a shop.

I've been looking to get a bike for a while and now actually able to - I had a look at a couple of Giant's and Cube's today but the Specialized Allez's are also an option. Which bike would you guys get from the list below? Any specific reasons why? Will be used for general fitness type riding than commuting for work.

Giant Defy 3

Specialized Allez Sport

Cube Peloton Compact

For a cheaper option - Specialized Allez

No particular reason for CycleSurgery, just had the window open for them all after having a look at them today.

Cheers!

why not go for the Ribble Sportive 7005?
only £600 with sora or £700 with Tiagra or Veloce/Xenon?

Its getting the time to do it though between now and then, I will try to borrow a wheel from someone, will be out on the MTB with most of the guys that I ride with tomorrow so will ask around then.

Did around 23KM tonight in 1h30m. Used a new iPhone app called 'Road Bike' by Runtastic.

Seems to be a really good app, with some good live updates etc... Was a tad bit annoyed that it paused my session 19KM's in because my battery was at 7%. (My fault I guess)

Anyone else use this? Or anything similar/better?

Just thinking for my first bike to be able to test it and size it up properly really, that's the only reason behind it. If I go Specialized, my local bike shop is a big dealer in them - and would get free/discount pedals etc!

I use Runtastic on top of my Cyclometer app on my Windows phone, just because I can set when it announces my time and distance, whilst the phone is in the back pocket.

A decent app and community, can export gpx for Strava. Annoyed Strava turned off v1 and v2 API, leaving us Windows Phone users stranded without official or a working third party, all because they want to restrict 'competition'. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

Much obliged Guv'nor.

Right. Manchester Piccadilly to Media City. City centre, so you may find shortcuts depending on your own personal feelings about, you know, one way signs and the like. Google Maps cycling directions offers some interesting ideas as well, which you may want to consider working in - little cobbled sections might liven things up, for example.

I think I'd probably go for something like this. You could substitute Whitworth Street for Portland Street on the first half of the journey, but it's a faff getting onto Whitworth Street from Piccaddilly unless you fancy doing a u-turn to get onto it or going down to Fairfield Street and getting across to Whitworth that way. Either way I'd recommend picking up Liverpool Road once you cross the A56 and heading across the bridge and down the little cycle path at the end to Middlewood Street and Liverpool Street. You could use the A57 instead of Liverpool Street, but the A57 is busy dual carriageway and Liverpool Street isn't. Both have cycle paths for at least part of the routes, though. The junction to get from the A6042 onto the A57 is pretty silly though, and while there are cycle paths to get across it, you could end up waiting a fair bit of time for the pelican crossings.

Well, I hope that helps you a bit...

Does anyone here use chamois cream?

I think I might have to invest in some, as I'm not really up for riding into work today as areas are a bit sore shall we say lol!

Is it more preventative, or does it help 'healing' too?

It's invaluable. I would rate either of these very highly. Currently using this but not because I'm a ponce, because my wife got me a Rapha gift set (it is awesome though).

Prevents rubbing/inflammation of your vitals, prevents skin damage and moisturises the areas etc. It's just as essential as a good pair of shorts and saddle for me.

Yeh I was looking at that udderly smooth one yesterday, seems to be good from the reviews.

I might have to give it ago as I'm doing a lot of cycling at the moment, and it's just annoying to get in the saddle a bit sore to start with.

Cheers chaps
