Who owns a 350z/370z?

I spent an hour in a 350z 2004 today...wow.

The sound and acceleration were great, amazing fun to drive and rapid. I want...

Looking around the £5k mark so I know its going to be an early model, and this was an import 2004 for £8k. MPG I can live with but what are the other running costs like? Anything you should be aware of before buying?

Anything to look for when buying one? I know being an import means higher insurance, but if its in the wife's name then I can live with the £500 to insure it. Alternatives I should consider as well?

If you can stretch to 6k you will get yourself a good UK GT spec model. Make sure it has been serviced and be aware that the clutch life is around 40k-60k

Make sure it has a good set of tyres, and check the paint well as it is water based and quite soft.

There are a few other niggles and faults that can raise their head but nothing too major.

The clutch is the biggest cost at about £1K for clutch, flywheel and fitting.

Brake servicing is about £300 for the fronts and about the same for the rears. servicing is quite cheap if you can do the work yourself.

Take a look on 350z-uk.com for a buying guide so you know what to look for! :)

Very much looking into these alongside the Z4 now.... saw a beautiful one yesterday which has influenced me. Would just have to make sure I had one which had the clutch done, or budget for it. Hmmm.

I picked up my zed yesterday, 600mile round trip but it was worth it :D

The power delivery is very different to what i'm used to, very linear and doesn't have the sudden pull of my sx, but that v6 sounds awesome!!

I have an S14a as my second car and 350z's keep popping into my mind.

Are you happy with the change or did you prefer the sx? What is the handling like compared to the sx?

Because driving like a tool up and down the A6 in the middle of rush hour is clever? I'll make sure to remember to drive dangerously - idiot.

Hawker

While the original response wasn't brilliantly phrased I am very very surprised by the MPG claim, especially if that is at rush hour & therefore repeatedly start stop. I drive around 80 miles a day for my commute at the moment & have measured the mpg with an app rather than the generous onboard computer and I get at most 24mpg never going above 3k revs. The onboard pc says 28.6 mpg for that.

Is the mpg you are quoting based on the car's pc or an external calculation as my journey is almost as mpg friendly as you can get but I don't get near the mpg you have mentioned while driving sensibly. (and certainly not when driving like a loon :p)

Having a look on Autotrader and came across this one. Is it me or is that showing a 4 seat 350z in the photos?

there wasnt any 4 seat ones, if you want 4 seats you will have to look at 350GTs which are import only, they are the "new" skylines nissan did, sold as infiniti over here.

That is a cat C too, I'd avoid in honesty mate, looks well ropey.

No I wasn't thinking of buying it, but the photos I found confusing as they are showing 2 rear seats. :S

There's a couple of nice ones on there around the £6k mark, higher mileage etc but seem well looked after.

I'd get one that has had it's clutch done and it's a major job and will cost £1K with fitting, mileage isn't really a problem with these cars but drop links are weak, not a big job though.

I just did my drop links last week,

If you are looking at cars and they have a clunking noise over bumps at low speeds etc then be aware that its one of two things... the drop links or the compression arms.

Drop links are £100 quid a a pair, Compression arms are £600 quid a pair!

I took a gamble when buying mine and luckly it was the drop links :)

Mine has this issue, its at 56k. Very common with these cars, and a right bitch at £600 a pair

Im having my exhaust changed next week, the joint at the back of the exhuast has rusted away, and it sounds more like an impreza, which im not too happy about. Im upgrading to a Cobra resonated one :) - has anybody else changed their exhaust??

I haven't yet, but mine is just starting to blow a little so I am planning on it very soon.

I really would like the Nismo one as it seems to have a really nice sound but still not fully decided as the Nismo one is £££
