*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Well, it seems there is still support for Move on PS4.... but will anyone use it?

And will they make a decent implementation of it? I know most here don't care for it, but I still can see it as having potential.

If only they implemented controls properly. I don't know why, in games such as Killzone, they implemented it as a "point at screen" device rather than a "movement along x/y at speed relative to distance moved" (if that makes sense in writing)

Using it as both a cursor on screen for aiming and means of turning was just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

i for one, don't care for eye OR move.

same with kinect.

Yawn.

seriously, when are they going to realise the wii motion controls etc were a fad. and now that fad is over. i'll be happy to see it all removed and never spoke of again :p

:) when the Wii 1st came out with that pressure pad/board, I tried that bobsled game with actually no precision at all. Lean slightly = nothing, Lean a little bit more = full turn  How anyone found that fun....? Even tiger woods is infinitely more enjoyable with a pad than it was with a wii remote!

to be honest, i think the only game i mediocrely enjoyed using motion controls, was for wii sports.

i just like vegging out to play games, and sitting still. not throwing my arms about like a loon. :p

id join a badminton or tennis club if i wanted to do that

Late to the thread, I've been reading a fair amount about the new consoles, although I admit my focus is on the Xbox One.

My question, what exactly is the PS4 offering that is different to the PS3, other than better hardware? What's new? Genuine question, I've tried to search to see if there's something obvious I'm missing but I can't see it.

Thanks

The same as the XO but no HDMI passthrough basically on top of the improved spec. Obviously its a shame its just going to do the same things as the PS3...

ps3ud0

Slicker and hopefully more user friendly UI
Improved controller with additional inputs via a touchpad
Cross game chat

AS soon as they added the internet to consoles basically everything you want in a consumer device was possible. Almost nothing being done on the PS4 can't also be done on the PS3, a bit of software to share pictures and crap, a bit of save game stuff and wireless connection to a Vita to continue a game on a different device, this is basic basic stuff, cross game chat, again even the PS3 was basically a PC with more than enough power to program this kind of crap into.

The ultimate difference is more power, more efficiency which will lead to better graphics. People can pretend all they want but graphics were the very obvious main driving force between consoles and always has been. If you could buy a PS3 today or a Saturn with vastly inferior graphics but all the same other functions who would buy the Saturn, same for any console comparison. In 5 years people will look back at a 360/ps3 and think the games look old and dull, thats life.

its a new console with better graphics and everything else is minimal software differences that could almost all be VERY easily implemented on other devices.

New controller... I'd love for someone to explain how its impossible to add a new controller for the PS3.

I find it funny that some people think a hardware upgrade is no good reason to upgrade one device but its the only reason people upgrade other devices. There is VERY little you can't do on an early iphone or any early smart phone that you can't do on a later one, just more power available, prettier graphics, faster content switching, its still the same stuff, office aps, basic games, phone calls, video watching, cameras. People buy new ones all the time because its faster and has more power than the old one and for no other reason.

I'd never use a HDMI pass through. I can already switch between all my devices with the press of one button, Don't see the need on a gaming console.

Just what exactly would you want?

I'd like to know that as well.
I'm a console gamer and all I really want with a new console is better specs and an improved system.
With the PS4 we have better specs,a better controller, better PSN,a better UI by the look of it,better voice chat with the addition of cross game chat.
That's enough for me.
