Did this yesterday, absolutely brilliant ride. I don't know why it's saying my top speed was so high tho, it was only around 45-8 mph I think? Regardless, this was an awesome little trip and then I spent the rest of the day on the beach.

Pretty pleased with the average speed too considering I'd decided to take it easy as it was so hot.

Two weekends at the beach on the trot, I think it's my new favourite thing.

I'd be happy when racing to hit 32-35kmh average depending on hills and wind.

Solo, if I can hit 30kmh average, a VAM of 1000 and 200w+ (extrapolated from Strava not SRM) then I'm happy. I don't do the really big rides like some of you lot, ill do 90 minutes to 2 hours hard.

There is a 90km road race at the start of next month I'm keen to enter in another town not too far away. Ill be racing B grade soon but need to keep my training up.

Today's ride http://app.strava.com/activities/66919375 a little bit of climbing, but to do the Rapha challenge I'd have to do that much every day this week which won't happen due to work and legs!

So this is what happens when you take a ~21mph averaging flatlander and put him in the hills. Really gorgeous ride this morning, timed it perfectly to avoid the real start of the heat. Father-in-law showed me up something rotten :).

Ubiquitous strava link! Unsuprisingly no records, anywhere :p.

Sitting in the in laws conservatory with a post ride espresso and TMS on the radio. Poyfect :D!

I won't be able to do the Rapha challenge either. I've done 15% of it today, but then its back to Cambridge and commuting with an average climb of <100 metres each way :/.

The leader of that challenge has done 110% already ?

Holy HR batman, those hills really took it put of you eh!?

I find hills force you to work hard, on the flat unless racing its too easy to ease off a little.

I got a Rapha invite to a screaning of the TDF in Sydney, I'd go if I lived closer! Also got 15% off code of completing a survey from them, pity their nice stuff is out of stock!

Wouldn't a car satnav try to take you routes bikes aren't allowed to go? although I guess you could set a route manually.

maybe yes, but I would rarely use it anyway, it was a thought
im going to order the garmin city navigator map first, as I only got o/s maps on my edge

Aye unfortunately. I would consider myself fitter than average but the climbs really put me through the mill. Ach, it can only get better :).

I'm snookered for that too. I was hoping for time off work but I've got no chance and I'm busy next weekend. :(

Just my luck to go on a day there was apparently an organised race happening. When I got back into Abergavenny I was planning to do another trip up Blorenge to take me to 8000ft for the day but all the roads were closed for a tandem/recumbent race.

e: TIL: Eating breakfast then parking at the bottom of a 1315ft hill and going straight up it without warming up is a great way to make yourself feel sick :D

That's a fair bit of climbing for that distance! Good work!

Guy at work got one of the Scott CR1 SL frames when they were on sale at Westbrook last month, however he isnt getting on with it for reasons he cant put his finger on so is looking to change it (he is looking at Ti).
He has everything with it (BB, headset, seat clamp, box etc) and its the right size for me (52cm, small, me 5ft 8in) so i'm thinking of taking it off his hands and building up a new bike now instead of waiting until next year as i was originally planning....it will work out cheaper! :p Dont know how much he wants for it yet, might want the £500 he paid as that is a very cheap price as we all know.

He has Ultegra 6700 on it at the moment (will be removed of course) but will i need to change the BB if i was going for a DA9000 groupset? (i'm clueless on BB!).

I would be using my DA9000 C24's that i already have on my Boardman (so i have the 11 speed hub) and i have been speccing up Zipp Service Course SL bars/stem in beyond black and a Zipp seat post and bar tape, Fizik Arione saddle (all black) and Ultegra carbon pedals (DA too much for a small grams saving).

Any other recommendation for bar/stem/seat posts? A more matt black would be nice. Budget for those is £150-200 total.
The FSA SLK carbon post looks good but should you match the handlebars and seat post really...???

You wouldnt need to change the BB but you'll get a new one if you buy DA cranks, so you may as well use that.
