*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Does anyone think the leaked specs of the new Nexus 7 mk2 are quite disappointing

It looks like year old hardware to me

Sorry but what's new and cutting edge?

I heard rumours it will have

Snapdragon 400 (Really? isnt this a really old processor now)
Android 4.3 (had wondered if it would launch along side the Nexus 5 with Android 5)
7" Screen (nobody has confirmed if its 1080p but it should be)
1.2mp front camera (should be 2mp)
5mp rear camera (should be 8mp)
2GB RAM (fair enough)

Now don't get me wrong, this thing will probably be well under £200 so I guess I can't really moan can I :D but with the processor in it, I just know it will lag like pretty much every android device on the market (personally I own the original nexus 7 and nexus 4 both of which lag.....even after factory reset). Who knows, maybe with 5.0 google have cleaned up their code and sorted it all out

It's rumoured to be an S4Pro - plenty of grunt for a cut price tablet.

Lag is more to do with software or NAND performance nowadays.

I'm confused why people complain about cameras on tablets tbh, I can stand people who you see taking pic with iPads etc it look ridiculous and probably have a better camera on your smartphone any ways.

As for the front facing camera, isn't 1.2mp enough to do 720p "webcam" chat anyway? What would you need higher for?

My girlfriend kept using mine so much that I bought her one yesterday, she's happy and I get my Nexus 7 back :)

Is there a date for the new one?

Not yet but there is a Google event on the 24th so it may appear on Google Play shortly afterwards. Dates of the 30th and 31st have been posted on various forums so the end of the month is a safe bet.

Hmmmm would have liked less bezel but more importantly.....

no dimples on the rear

no dimples on the rear?

now where my other half is concerned I'm happy with that situation

however on my N7 mk2 I want dimples :(

Can anyone help me with regards to my rooted nexus please..

Any ROM I install, when I'm on the home screen the bottom bar where back, home and multi task is goes transparent but it goes black when in my app drawer etc and i can't work out how to keep it black no matter what ROM I've tried!?

I agree, the dimples do actually seem to aid in grip when holding the Nexus 7.

The best buy ad did list the Nexus 7 mk2 as having a 1920x1200 resolution screen. Not sure how much I believe that though.
