Keeping on the subject. Why are my thumbnails so large?

Someone at work has an S3, the batteries are different sizes...

Doesn't matter, still works, I've tried :).

As kona786 said, if internal storage wipe doesn't work then I'd ask Amazon for a replacement, which shouldn't be a problem!

Fair enough, I'll remember that. Cheers. :)

Yeah i will do dont worry about that!

I'm still fairly confident it isn't MGA thats the problem, as it was running fine for about 5 days before this all happened....

It was fine on Sunday in the car doing its stat nav thing, then it randomly turned itself off. Later in the evening it did it a few more times. Then Monday morning it wouldn't stay on unless it was on charge.

Nothing has changed as far as i know.

Does sound like a hardware fault to be honest, another thing I could recommend is putting a battery in there and before it drops to 0% take note of what % it was at prior to that happening, and try that battery in another S4 but I think since you're contacting Amazon there wont be a problem getting a replacement :P

keep us updated

Well at the moment it just seems to stay at 0%. If i take it off charge it turns itself off. It doesn't just die, it does shut down properly.

Thats with both batteries by the way.

I was at RIAT on Sunday, and it was very hot in the afternoon. Whats the chances the heat fried something!?

Definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me, good thing Amazon CS is great!

Edit: These phones should be able to put up with that amount of heat to be honest, but can't rule out the possibility I guess.

I'm considering a change from my Note 1 and I'm looking at the S4 or waiting for the Note 3. My biggest bug bear is the battery life on the Note, I'm not getting a day use even with very light use and screen time. It could be the battery and I've ordered a replacement to see if that helps.

What sort of battery life are S4 users getting? I also heard that the 16Gb were loaded with bloatware and that there was very little actual usable storage space. Is this the case and if so how much is left?
Is the Sandisk SD card a real issue? I've got a 32Gb in my Note that I'd be using with the new phone.

THanks.

I think the figure is around 9GB free at standard on the S4. It's not loads, but the SD card makes up for that, for me.

Battery life wise I've never had to worry about it dying during the day, and usually end the day with a good amount left over. I've got a 64GB Sandisk card in there, and had a 32GB card before that (although in the S3 at the time) and haven't ever noticed any problems. This thread is actually the only place I've ever heard this issue mentioned to be honest.

Have you tried all this without the SD card in? I have a 32GB micro SD card and there's a combination of the card, a micro USB to USB adapter and my USB hub that can cause it the card to get scorching hot and do next to nothing.

It could be something like that? The card is fine in devices and other hubs but this one combination means it shows up as corrupt and gets everything very hot.

I wouldn't count out the card being the source of the issue tbh, especially seeing as it seems to have started with that addition.

Perhaps a full wipe whilst it's in the phone? Even with things like the file sizes being all out of whack points to that.

Final option would be to take the card out and format it some other way in windows to try and get a clean wipe.

Ive had the card as long as i've had the phone, its not a recent addition. :)

I've tried it both with and without the card, doesn't seem to make any difference anymore. It did have a period yesterday where it wound get really warm but it doesn't do it anymore. Which is odd, as again, nothing to my knowledge has changed.

I do intend to replace it with a Samsung card though.

I'll see how it goes. tonight with a full wipe and maybe a flash back to MF8.

Oh sorry, misunderstood.

Although for what it's worth a samsung card has no reason to be any more or less compatible than sandisk, they're both tier 1 mfrs of flash, in fact iirc there's only about 4 companies actually produce memory, sandisk, samsung, micron (I think) and toshiba? It's a while since I've been involved in this but what I do remember is that samsung semiconductor have practically nothing to do with the phone people other than the name, in fact they probably do more business with apple.

So I'd say either your card works or doesn't. The rest is a phone thing.

IMO of course but I'd be interested to hear an explanation as to why I'd be wrong on that.

The digitizer is the part between the glass and the panel that gives you touchscreen so if touch still works then it's probably just the glass that's broken, although it's difficult to find someone who will replace one without the other as they're bonded together and it's difficult to separate the two without causing damage.

much easier way to tell is if there's any bleed on the image, if you can see a completely normal screen under shattered glass then its just the glass, if the picture underneath is messed up or has lines missing etc then its the digitiser as well.

But as stated, you're unlikely to get someone to do just the glass, youtube it, you generally have to ruin the digitiser just to get the glass off as they're stuck together.

Is anyone having trouble with the google keyboard?

I'm on wanamlite 1.3 (I think, latest one) and I can't install the official google keyboard? I've done a completely fresh install of wanam and it still has this problem.

My stock S4 has just done an update and got much quicker! Build version was JDQ39.I9505XXUAME2 and is now JDQ39.I9505XXUBMG7.

Much much nicer!
