*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Installing Xposed modules seems to have disabled root on my GS4. What's the best way to restore with flashing the ROM again? On a pre rooted stock ROM.

Eventually ditched foxhound for good ole Wanamlite that served me so well on the S3

I like flashing roms as much as the next guy but foxhound was just too much and there wasn't much info out there when I hit problems
I was using the 3minit framework from the foxhound app 3.1.1 If it's not compatible it shouldn't be in there

I am not sure i trust wanam much as a dev, he bricked several peoples i9505 with his custom kernel. He ignored them and the topic just ended up being closed.

has that thread been pruned? the last reply seems to be Wanam asking for more details? Looks like he closed it though. Its not much of a lose, he didnt really keep it up to date anyway.

The guys who bricked their phones were also complaining about how hard it was to flash a Rom in some earlier threads and then managed to brick their phones and just blamed wanam for it. He closed the thread to try and get to the bottom of it, the guys who bricked it then later admitted it wasn't the devs fault.

Hi can anyone point me in the right direction for a car charger that actually charges? I have tried 2 samsung ones and a belkin one but they all actually drain the battery rather than charge it even though it says it's charging!!???

The phone charges fine on the mains plug that came with it.

I need to use it as a sat nav so this is very important for me. thanks in advance.

I use the Samsung charger and it works great

indeed.

but I've just realized that you can adjust the automatic brightness settings which is great! with some playing i might get rid of the need for manual brightness.

That's what I'm after,.

Where is the setting at, I was sure I looked everywhere lol. Or is it an extra app?

I thought Nandroid backups were suppose to be a true 1:1 image...how come i have re-download my Google music [the playlist i store on my phone] every time i do a restore?

its in settings> display > brightness > Adjust :)

OMFG

Thanks, your certainly more thorough than me!

Edit - turned off CABC too while I'm at it. Content adaptive Dynamic backlight.

I'd love a setting for it to which to Dynamic mode when using a video+Youtube app.

Edit - The lux sensitivity is too low for it to be useful for me. In my my room where it's pretty well lit the light sensor is reading 0-2 lux, making custom low light brightness difficult to setup. I would have thought my room was more than 2 lux.

I didn't order the one linked above in the end as its only 1A, I did find another one somewhere else that 3A rated so i am going to try that first

Are there no official or high quality 2A car chargers available?

There are loads, just look for a USB ipad car charger, iPads charge at 2amp (aka 10 watt in US speak).

Top result on the usual site for everything (I can never remember if we're allowed to link or even mention it?) if you search for GC23136.

Yes you'll end up with a spare 30 pin apple cable but you can just bin that if you like.

Gave my notification area the PA treatment:

Those of you on PACMan, you can slide your finger across the above page to flip between tiles and notification (same way you slide through home screens). Has a revolving door animation.

I've been toying with loading pacman for a while now, only reason I've not is every time I check the thread there's another problem or bug being worked on.

Anyone here using it full time / opinions?

I had no issues with it. great battery life and everything seemed to work (well, except the auto brightness....) . Recommended!

same issue actually. it seems it's not too sensitive with low light. I downloaded a sensor app and that read the same so i assume its the hardware. bit of a shame!

Cheers, have you got GC23136 yourself? does it perform as it should with the S4 i.e. quick charge.

Same here, flawless for my uses.

Do you have the call bug? I only really use this phone for outgoing callS and data and it has been fine for the ~2weeks I've been running PAC.

25th July Milestone build.

A shame really, it was almost a perfect solution.

I have pretty much everything Griffin make if you catch my drift :)

I'll be honest I haven't tried one because the 2amp parts are bigger that the dual 1 amp so I use them (plus I can keep micro USB and lightning polugged in all the time), they're fine for a quick in car top up and sit flush with the socket rather than these being much bigger but it will definitely supply 2amps.

I did see somewhere (I think in this thread) that samsung had done something to take their products outside of the standard micro USB spec for this fast charge? Not sure how much difference that will make to a standard 2amp charger though.
