***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

All depends on software optimisation ;) :p

Looks like a great phone all round, love the design, pretty similar to the GS 4 but much better imo, I don't know about having the buttons on the back though :/ Hopefully their software skin will be as good as sense V5 and/or stock android or even better than them!

If LG can give fast support and long term updates this time then they have an EPIC device!

Software skin looks terrible imo, reminds me of ugly touchwiz :( :o

Good to see they have included OIS!

Applied some quick edits and here we have possibly the nexus 5 device

Personally I can't see google going with this for the nexus 5 though, would cost way too much if they did. Either get someone else this year or have the same phone roughly but with cheaper/mid range specs.

Seems like this is a decent device and tbh I think the buttons on the back might actually work in terms of daily usage, only time will tell.

Overall LG have a killer device here all they need to do is market it effectively in the UK where their marketing seems kind of non existent.

I'm no fan of onscreen buttons (I feel it eats away at screen estate) however customise them is very good. I'm happy with that and if I could place them where I choose. Brilliant.

PAC MAN on this would be devastating. However no SAMOLED = No thanks.

edit - storage options on, only 16/32GB?? with high end audio support and 1080p60.

The storage capacity is set at either 16GB or 32GB. Supposedly, there is a microSD slot as well, but it seems that will only be available in certain markets and the units LG brought to NYC didn't have such a thing.

With a good dev community this phone will be awesome. Some places are saying SD slot should be there so that's good news.

Watching the preview videos on various sites there is something about the screen that really bothers me. There seems to be a black border between the bezel and the actual screen, really evident in the pic below and also in the video here on The Verge. I would actually consider this a deal breaker.

Awesome specs and pretty design

Will never ever ever get android updates though. Deal breaker

With a software skin this garish that doesn't really matter. It just needs regular CyanogenMod updates.

Yeah, I love how LG just rips of Samsung, even there disgusting TW UI which everyone hates.

I think overally its a really nice device, big battery, OIS camera, Snapdragon 800, decent storage. Not sure how big it will be, I hope its close to the S4 in size as I really can't see myself handling anything over 5".

The Anandtech write up is really good, camera looks like it could be really good, the speakers and headphone seems awesome, screen is very smart with there Gram stuff. LG looks like its coming hard and it does come with 4.2.2 out of the box.

OK so having a day to digest this I am torn. Specs look amazing and I like the design, the UX though and lack of updates worry me coming from a Nexus.

I may wait and see what the Sony i1 looks like as Sony seem to be getting better at updates, however their screens suck ho hum.
