13/63 plate

Tried and he's just called back and says they can't do less than £19,100. Considering it's only £200 more and I can get it now or on the 1st September that seems worth it opposed to mid-September/whenever they come in, especially as I have to have it by the 7th.

Is the Care-3 (3 years servicing) for £329 worth it? We'd want to get the servicing with Kia when it comes to it.

- Car mats (whoop?!)

Hah, it's amazing how many times you can close a deal with the promise of free mats. Of course, the car already comes with the mats...

Roger dodger. Unfortunately I'm unavailable to have a decent chat during his working hours until Monday and I'd rather he have something to think about during that time. How's this?

Sigh, listen to Housey. If the salesman think he's getting a sale and a few hundred quid commission then he'll work to your schedule. I stayed on until 9pm last night to close a deal on a new car and I was happy to because I was thinking what I was going to spend the commission on. See if I had just upped sticks at 8pm then I would have been x hundred pounds poorer off.

THEY ARE WORKING FOR YOU, AND THEY WILL BEND OVER FOR YOU!

Considering last night you were about to agree to £20795 I bet you are glad you didn't do what most people on here do and throw a huge wobbly when we started kicking off about it :p

I still think there is probably more in the car, especially given how quickly he has come down to £19100, but at this level we are very much into the law of diminishing returns - its not as if you are about to pay £2000 over the odds as you were last night. Personally I still wouldnt want his car - its not a 63 plate and its not a factory order to your spec and both of these things are available to you for less money if you wish from other avenues.

However given we are now within 400 quid of the best possible price...

How many services will it actually get you? Whats the interval and whats your annual mileage? If its a 15-20k a year interval or 2 years then you are likely to get 1 service out of it. I suspect this one service is less than £329 therefore service pack not worth it.

Like I've said before I value everyone's advice here so thank you. OcUK (and most online forums) can be quite short, understandably so because like you say most people don't like to be told they're doing things wrong, even if there's time to change!

And yes, happy considering we can get it sooner than any other dealer, plus it's our local one which is useful when it comes to the MOTs for life etc. I know the car washes for life isn't worth anything but seeing as we don't have a driveway or hose etc it's actually quite useful.

Not 100% on how the Care-3 runs, but I believe it's services based on calendar years (so 3 services) rather than mileage but will double check before we sign on the dotted line. Mileage will be between 7-15k, it's quite a range as it's hugely dependant on fluctuating business use.

Again, thank you to everyone that helped. Deposit paid and will be collecting on 2/3rd September as a 63 plate :).

It looks like the service intervals on the Sportage are a pathetic 12 months/10k miles. This seems bizarrely short but it does mean you will get 3 services for your £329 so it looks like a reasonable deal.

Most other cars would need only a single service in the period that the Kia needs 3!

I hope you got the paint protection left off, I think I'd prefer my paintwork shiney and untouched by the dealer..

Yeah they couldn't do it for less than their cost price (;)) so it's not included.

And yeah, I can't remember the exact names, but I think the dealer said you get a basic, intermediate and full service on years 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Like I said, I'll double check.

I only got mine on a Late 13 plate rather than waiting for the 63 plates in Sept, as my old car's road tax was due up at the End of August, and I didn't want to have to pay out for another Road Tax (even though it would have been 6 months and I could have claimed the extra back)...

Plus I got the 'No VAT' deal from Skoda (which finished in July) which knocked about £2,500 off the price of my car!! :D

Quite happy with my 'Unlucky for Some' 13 Plate! :)

Sorry for late reply - RE: the Care-3 3 year pack that is 3 services at 10,000 mile or 12 month intervals as stated above. In terms of value for money, it depends a little which dealer you would have gone to but most quotes for all 3 services seem to be £600-£700 so I would say it's pretty good value.

Congrats on the new car, what colour did you go for? Any extras?

Presumably the car he is talking about closing on does though

Probably but the way its stated reads like all new cars come with mats as standard.

IMHO, all new cars SHOULD come with mats as standard but thats just me :p

You can usually haggle 'Dealer Fit' Car mats, but (from what I've been told) they are usually cheaper and wear out quickly.

I went for the 'Factory Fit which are harder wearing but cost me extra!

Cheers. And we just went for solid white, no extras other than the standard 2 features.

I think the dealer saw you coming tbh. So you paid near list price for a 13 plate (although not registered and will be anything upto 6 months old) car when you could have ordered a shiney new one to your specs with a better discount? Your nuts!

Buying a new car is a massive investment and as such needs time and research, you never jump in with both feet and hope for the best.

You really should have listened to Fox as he gave some very sage advice. Oh, and you do realise that as soon as you drive it from the dealer you loose a minimun of £1k?

Sorry if I'm peeing on your bonfire but it seems like your heart ruled your head on this. I hope you enjoy the car as much as you wanted it.

I paid £1,695 less than the list price and £200 more than the best price listed on DTD/Broadspeed. If you'd read the thread you'd know I'd have lost at least £300 if I got a car any later than 7th September which any fresh deliveries would be past. And the car is 3 weeks old.

When did I not listen to Fox? Yes, you lose VAT plus depreciation. What's your point?

Audi are offering some stonking deals on brand new cars at the moment.

Picked up my dream job last week so went in for a browse yesterday, walked out with a car on order!

Moot point now the deal is done but worth bearing in mind that if you have a p/x the dealer will likely want to pay slightly less if completing in September as often their valuation systems will drop month on month. Realistically though it won't make any difference to the 'differential' that will be haggled between the new car and old car valuations so I would want the 63 plate as it will be worth slightly more when it comes to resale.

What does that have to do with the OP other than nothing given he wasn't in the market for that sort of car and has now ordered anyway?

Let me guess, your Audi has a 2 litre Diesel engine, exciting stuff.
