***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

But its a snapdragon 800, surely its a faster more power hungry version of the s600? Also the display is a 5.2 inch 1080p. I would hazard a guess and say battery life would be worse than the note 2.

Qualcomm say it is more efficient than the 600 but we will have to see.

any idea when the uk release date is?

Early October according to Carphone Warehouse.

Nice phone but as other have mentioned LG never seem to update their phones, plus the one we get in the UK won't have a SD slot or removable battery, unlike the Korean version.

One other thing LG tend to do with their phones that some might not notice is the Oleophobic Coating isn't the best, when new it brilliant but after a while it starts to wear off quickly, leaving finger grease smudge blotches which are hard to remove, I've noticed this on both the 4x and the Nexus 4 & it can wear by just being in your pocket.

Also there is the S4 to contend with aswell.

And finally it's out around the time of the Note III, which will steal all of the limelight & hype.

Even though it looks like a great phone from LG, it just won't sell on these shores.

The south korean version does not have a 3000mah battery though, "only" 2610mah.

Although I agree, I am not sure on it myself.

NO SD SLOT :/, but 1080p60 and Hifi 24 bit/192KHz. Great combo.

Needs 64GB Model.

I didn't think I'd be looking to swap the HTC One as my daily, but I think the G2 might just do it for me with the amazing (and much bigger) screen in a similarly sized device. The only thing, I wish there was Zoe on it, I love the short videos and Zoe Highlights so I'll have to try and find an equivalent app.

The only other downside is the soft buttons, I'm just not a fan of them but it's not a dealbreaker.

Thanks for the link Grrrr, you learn something new everyday.

Is there a TLDR version?

192/24 offers no benefits to the end user, it's only useful for marketing fodder.

192kHz practical fidelity is slightly worse with more distortion and it could be harmful including ultrasonics.
24bit is only useful for sound engineers who need extra headroom for mastering, 16 bit is way more than enough for playback.

First reviews out, seem positive.

In the end, it’s pretty hard to find anything bad to say about the LG G2, so I won’t. If you’re not interested in this phone, it’s likely going to be for a subjective reason like not being a fan of the interface or the button placement. Neither of those were issues for me, and objectively, this is a great phone.

Review 2

If I had to boil it down, I would say that the LG G2 is excellent where it matters: super-responsive, amazing display, excellent battery life and very high photo quality. To me, these are the most important aspects of a smartphone, and the LG G2 hits a home run on everything that really matters. Beyond that, it is up to you to decide if the industrial design, graphic design, web services or carrier availability will work for you. If you end up choosing it, you would have made a damn fine choice.

Overall product rating: 9/10

I really like the design of this phone - razor thin bezels and a decent looking back.

Double tap to wake is great too - something I'd use instead of Moto's always on Google Now.

Camera is a stunner too.

Oppo has this feature.. The double tap one :) it's quite good tbh!

Yep, handy for phone's with no physical buttons on the front.

takes some getting used to tho.. I probably unlock my phone that way 2/10 times even thought I know its enabled and easier to use but I just have that "push a button to unlock" coded in my brain..
