Any idea what the wheels on that actually are? (I take it they'll be re-branded something).

Also, is it just me that wouldn't drop exotic Italian bike money on a Giant/Trek/Specialized etc? I'm so vain...

I think they do actually produce they're own wheels and they're not that good. AFAIK Most of the bikes made in the Middle East are produced in factories owned by Giant.

Pretty sure Merida and Giant are the biggest two in Taiwan, but these companies are now outsourcing their own production to China. So you could have a an "Italian" or "American" bike assembled at home but made by a Taiwanese company, by their factory in China!

I think I understand what you mean, in so far as if you're going to be spending thousands of pounds on a bike you want it to be "special", and having a common brand makes it less special somehow. Then you discover that they're made in the same factories using the same processes, and then you just feel cheated. Granted, they're still put together in Italy, but does that make it worth the premium?

Speaking of new bikes; has anybody seen any with the latest Ultegra Di2 6870 groupset on it? I crave electronic shifting, but it seems silly getting a 10 speed Di2 when the 11 speed update is just around the corner.

:(

you know I was going to get that kinetic rock and roll trainer ?

well, I don't some digging, and I emailed a guy on ebay that was selling one, and I asked him about the dimensions to see if it would fit on the shelf in storage mode.

shelf =
width - 44cm or so
length - 82cm or so
height - 30cm

is an open shelf system so I could if I wanted , (example) fit a long pole all the way along the whole length of the shed

Rock and Roll =

width - 85cm at the widest point
length - 95cm
height - 40cm

gutted, as I cant find a "road machine" for less than the Rock and Roll, seems a waste of money..

any ideas?

thanks

Merida are a strange brand indeed. They don't sponsor any pro teams yet like you say produce quite a few of the bikes for other brands.

Wait 'til 11 speed comes out and the 10 speed will drop in price.

While I would like an 11-32t cassette, I suppose I could live with 11-28t if it means saving several hundreds of pounds. The bike that I am currently lusting over is the Van Nicholas Aquilo SE, as a replacement for the Yukon. The sad thing is, I paid £2300 for the Yukon and I doubt I'd get much more than a grand for it now, only two years later.

nom's, I have a really good natural flapjack recipe from the guy at Husky Organic, I'll see if I can dig out:
