At the moment on paper as i said Spurs seem the most likely to take 4th off us and perhaps even 3rd depending on how well the team gels together this season.
Not really sure about Liverpool, i dont think their squad is strong enough to topple us from 4th although that all depends on Suarez and if he gets his head down and scores plenty of goals for Liverpool.

For me Arsenals main threat to the top 4 is Spurs at the moment but that could all change depending on what Wenger does and who he buys in the next week or so.
I can see why Spurs are a threat, they're been 1 point behind you for the past 2 years and third time lucky they actually get a higher spot this season. Liverpool will carry on their decent run from last season and with Suarez, they'll just score their way to the 3 points.

This is assuming Skrtel doesn't actually act as a 12th man for the other team again.

I don't mind Cissokho, any competition is good for the brain dead donkey.

Who do we play on the other wing then, Aspas? Doesn't leave us with much cover except Sterling/Ibe and not sure either is good enough for top 4 atm. We do create a lot but would be nice if someone could also score more than one past Stoke.

Sterling, Ibe, Aspas or even Henderson playing tucked in. With Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge and one of those in the side we're not going to be short of creativity or goals. Having another wide attacking player would be nice but it's far from a necessity.

Had it not been for Begovic then we'd have won by 3 or 4 on Saturday, just like we done a fair few times in the second half of last season.

I can see Madrid pulling out of signing Bale this window. I don't know if that would be bad for Spurs or not. Might allow United to come in with a nice £60m bid and steal him away.

If Bale doesn't go, Spurs will have so many good players on the bench and potentially could compete for the Europa and top 4 with two starting 11's with totally a different MF and striker.

Title winning LOL

Why is that so funny?

With the players we are bringing in, we have a much better squad than UTD. Yes we may not win the title this year, but when the new players gel, we could easily be up there.

You forget that City were once an average side, but with some world class signings and a bit of reputation behind them, they are now up there.

It was on SSN just now.

Got to give Spurs credit here...they are really going for it!

Yep i can confirm it as well, just discussing his contract i think. Should be a Spurs player by end of the week at least. Spurs got their player, a player they have been linked with for the past yr.

LOL i wouldnt go as far to say you have a better squad than Utd:p. Utd still have RVP and Rooney who are both capable of scoring 30 goals a season easily. At the moment you havent got that, well depending on Bale and whether he stays or goes. If he stays then you lot will have a very strong team on paper..on the field its a different matter because they need to gel together.

What are the chances that Rooney will be sold to Chelsea after they have played each other next Monday? if it's going to happen you'd expect it to be after that game.

Aspas
Sterling
Alberto

You could even play Henderson as the middle of a 3 behind Sturridge, he's shown he has the intelligence to get into the box numerous times in a game. In a 4-3-3, the front 3 would be Sturridge, Coutinho & Suarez.

We have plenty of options with the current personnel, its not the end of the world if we don't get an attacking mid.

I'd say we have a better squad at the moment.

As said above, we even have a pretty decent bench for the first time ever. a lot rests on whether Soldado will make the grade, because he could easily be a 25+ goals per season striker if given the right support. And with our midfield we have just bought, that shouldn't be a problem.

Yes I agree they need to gel before getting anywhere near the top 2, but it's entirely possible in the next few years, even without Bale.

Not going to happen unless Chelsea put in a stupid offer for him ie £50mill+ but even then thats a huge risk for a player who isnt even fully fit.

Really cant see Utd selling Rooney of all players to Chelsea, that would strengthen them massively unless he becomes another donkey like Torres:p. Utd probably learnt a lesson from Arsenal when they nabbed RVP last summer:p...not to sell to your PL title rivals.

There is a rumour going around that United and Chelsea are talking to each other on the quiet about Rooney with the potential for Mata to come to United but that is a rumour that was doing the rounds earlier in the window when Chelsea made their first bid so I imagine its just lazy journalism.

Been great being a Spurs fan this summer, we've been buying early and not leaving it till the last day. We may be losing Bale and that left wing now weaker but overall our squad is a lot stronger. I only hope we play well this season and continue our usual early season form passed new year.
