First part, Arsenal would make more profit being out of champs league and spending 60mil less on wages. Arsenal profits are not huge, neither have the owners extracted loads of money out of the club. The fact that the 154mil is in Arsenal's bank account to protect the club is proof of this. That would be safely in the owners accounts being used to fund some new business elsewhere to make even more money if that was the case.

The second part, the fundamental flaw with Wenger is he actually genuinely believes Diaby is one of the best midfielders in the world, he thinks Diaby is brilliant and though Song was brilliant, he thinks Walcott is brilliant.

Replacing Ronaldo is basically impossible, the problem with Wenger is, he thinks he has a team full of Ronaldo's.

Again what reason does the board have(in terms of milking profit) for repeatedly giving Diaby new contracts? None, at all, Wenger however thinks he has a potential Fabregas on his hands if he can get Diaby fit and has therefore done his best to keep him and doesn't want to replace him.

He saw something in Gervinho that said "world class striker", and let Vela walk away for next to nothing. Everything points to Wenger being the problem, nothing at all points to the board being a problem. If the board were the issue, Diaby would have been shown the door at the end of his first contract, Walcott would have got told to do a running jump when he asked for 100k a week, Santos would never have been bought, and there wouldn't be 154mil in Arsenal's bank account.

One question I've always had, does Wenger get a bonus based on financial performance at Arsenal, does offering 3mil less for a player end up in him getting say a 300k bonus come the end of the year... lots of other managers have such deals in place, for me it would also explain a lot.

One thing to remember though, it is the same board who want to offer Wenger a new deal!

Which the AST and a lot of fans including me are saying not to even consider giving him a new contract unless we make some huge improvements on the field and win or at least challenge properly for trophies.

Personally i dont think Wenger will be around for much longer, this could be his last season in charge for all we know. Ill be sad to see him go but then on the other hand, we need a manager with new ideas, someone who has the balls to stand up to the board and say i want most of these players out and to buy some real genuine world class players.

But we all know it wont happen as the Board love Wenger too much to let him go.

Willian having a medical at Spurs now:(...wonder if Wenger is even paying any attention to what our rivals are doing and buying :(

David is trying to find some change so Arsene can get into the swimming pool and help him put his water wings on.

LOL :D

Hey at least you have a few world class players in your squad unlike Arsenal who have absolutely none...the only player i can think thats sort of world class is Podolski and maybe Wilshere if he can stay fit.

It's a difficult situation with Wenger. He is the most successful manager in Arsenal history.

He started off revolutionizing Arsenal and the Premier league.

He knows the ins and outs of Arsenal football club, and has keep us up there for the past 16 years (or what ever time he has been at the club)

However, it is true, the last 5 years or so there is an element of mismanagement or what just seems to be his reluctance to strengthen the first team and his complete blind philosophy that the players at the club are good enough to win the lot.

There is always a danger we get a new manager in who is more realistic and realises that the players/squad are not good enough and brings in 'better' players, but then they don’t manage to keep the club in the top 4!!

Unfortunately however wrong he is regarding the squad, you can not argue he gets the job done, i.e. making the champions league is the minimum requirement, which clubs like Liverpool and Spurs just have not been doing.

Every year people say, Arsenal wont make the top 4 and ever year they eat humble pie. I dont see why this year will be any different.

Wiltshere is massively overrated.

You are entitled to your opinion but i dont think hes that massively overrated, the lad has spent the past few seasons injured so really hasnt had a chance to shine or show his full potential.

Fingers crossed this season he remains fully fit and becomes the player he is meant to be. Hes important to our squad, majory important.

Yes True, I don’t think he should be given a new deal too. I mean for what he has done moving to the emirates and creating an Arsenal people admired or at least did admire upto about 2005 ish. I remember someone saying in 2006 Arsenals decline has started and its best AW is thanked and moved upstairs and a new manager brought in like you said.

Nah he aint paying attention, he is busy swimming in the pot of gold. :) haha

Laudrup says our double bid for Williams and Michu is nothing but a pipedream and gossip:p

So that means we have made a stupid bid of £10mill for the pair of them:D

Are we all calling him Wiltshere for the jokes?

He is world class when he is fit. He makes Arsenal and England much stronger when he plays. Once he has had a season injury free he will be sold in all likelihood.

Every year people say, Arsenal wont make the top 4 and ever year they eat humble pie. I dont see why this year will be any different.

Every year people say that this could be the year Arsenal miss out of CL football. Last year Arsenal were ridiculously lucky. They went unbeaten in their last 10 games and still scraped it by 1 point. If people think that Arsenal are going to finish above the current Tottenham squad being assembled they are nuts. Tottenham would have to have a mare to gift Arsenal 4th.

Screw it, Liverpool could steal 5th from them if they are not careful. One or two key players injured would scupper Arsenal hugely.
