Anybody know if Will Hughes is any good? The Independent are reporting that we're close to agreeing a deal to sign him from Derby and then leave him there until next summer. We've been linked with him on and off for a while now but I've never really seen much of him.

edit: and Guillem Balague reckons the Bale deal will be confirmed in the next few hours - which is a bit odd considering the time.

Why not? Like Andy's hinted at, you're not spending that sort of money on a player that's not starting 99 times out of 100. Equally Ronaldo's still going to be their main man and the first name on the team sheet.

I saw him a couple of times last season, he's a tidy player, decent range of passing for a kid really, shocking white hair :D

I should be a ****ing scout man!

Doing the customary youtube search, the first thing I noticed was his hair. It put me off him if I'm being honest.

From youtube I can't make out where he actually plays. There's clips of him playing in an attacking right sided position and others where he's playing as a deep lying midfielder.

Will Hughes is a pretty amazing prospect to be honest, I was really hoping that either Manchester United or Liverpool went in for him (as I feel he'd get more of a shot at those clubs than say, Manchester City or Arsenal).

I saw quite a bit of him last season and friends that go and watch him rave about him, very, very intelligent player, good technical ability and vision / range of passing :).

Also; ****ing love him on FM :D.

Probably already benn posted, but Arsenal supposedly in for Benzima.

Almost every player this summer we have tried to sign we have been knocked back or havent met wage demands.

The one transfer I am slightly optimistic about is Cabaye. It sounds like for once the player is in favour of moving to us.

It's not exactly Bale's £80m but Neymar started on the bench in Barca's 1st league game.

It's all going to end in tears.

Your issue isn't players not wanting to go to Arsenal, its their current clubs not being willing to let their players go for 50% of their market value or the player not being for sale. Apparently you have just made a £6m offer for a goalkeeper with a £20m buyout clause in his contract. Unsurprisingly his club have laughed it off.

Wenger won't sign anyone of note this window and Wenger will bemoan the lack of value or available targets.

Rumours of a triple signing for Spurs before the windows ends. Surely that is Willian, Lamela and Coentrao then?
Bale for £93m and Coentrao is going round the web. Surely this means Ronaldo's on his way out and RM know it that next summer he won't extend his contract, Ronaldo will be sold back to United. This obsession and public pursuit of Bale does fit in with what I think. He's the next best replacement for Ronaldo.

As i posted in this thread last week when it was reported he was close to joining Liverpool, I saw him on Saturday and whilst he was not brilliant, you could tell he was a classy player. Always looked like he had loads of time on the ball, and a great first touch and eye for a pass. Definitely one of the best players on the Championship... Derby fans love him!

Reportedly, Barcelona were looking at him a few years ago.
