**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Because it still has that horrible shape and bad analog stick placement, both analogs next to each other just feels wrong to me after using the 360 controller.

I don't care what any dice employee and other people in the industry think. They're getting paid lots of money to say nice things anyway.

It's still impossible for me to understand how the analogue stick position is an issue for anybody. I can swap between a DS3 and 360 controller without any issue what so ever. Both are completely normal and usable, it makes no difference what so ever to me.

I've just done a complete 180, my PS4 order is cancelled and yesterday I ordered an XB1. Realised that PS4 has nothing for me at launch, yet XB1 has Forza which I love!

Because people are different, is it really that hard to comprehend?

I think the idea is that the longer grips will alleviate that issue so your thumbs aren't bent at quite the same angle.

Looking forward to trying both out anyway. Removing that stupid battery lump on the back is probably the best improvement they could have made to the Xbox one.

I think it's because I notice other differences, but the position isn't one of them. For example i actually prefer the stick on the 360 controller, but it's because the general responsiveness and feel to it is better, nothing to do with the position.

Titanfall looks like one of the killer apps that will sell the console on its own. Just like something like inFamous or God of War would sell the PS4, Titanfall could easily do that for the Xbox One.

Lots of people must have really struggled playing PS1/2 in here going by there reaction to the thought of using a DS3.

The xbox s controller was amazing, xbox one controller probably looks more similar to it than 360, no idea what they were thinking with the brick though, that's got to be one of the worst ever.

I struggle to play games on the DS3, actually my PS3 is used for Netflix 99% of the time because I refuse to hold the pad to play games. Years of Xbox gaming has made my hands stuck in the 360 controller position.

Not really, as at the time of the PS 1/2 the DS pads were about the best option. The other alternatives were the N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, original Xbox "duke" controller and the Gamecube. I'm not sure any of those were massively better than the PS 1 or 2 pads.

The 360 controller, and to a lesser extent the original Xbox Controller S, showed just how much better the analogue controls on a pad could be, hence why sticking with the same old design put people off the DS3. Sony could have changed the design, and didn't.

I don't mind the DS3, but do see it as inferior in most regards. However the DS4 does seem to be a major improvement, bigger, wider spacing and better triggers should all combat any past issues.

It was sarcasm :p

I much prefer the 360 pad but some people act like using the DS3 cripples their hands and funnily enough when playing in person with people I've never found anyone struggling to use it after a 360 pad.

Aesthetically, I'd agree. The 360 pad looks "cleaner".

Technically, no. The One controller is much more advanced, with it's rumble triggers etc. and should be even more ergonomic and comfortable.

Yeah I love the 360 pad, obviously I've not tried the new one but the less rounded edges make it hard to understand how it will be more comfortable. Even the bump in the battery pack on the 360 pad make it feel like you really have a grip on it. A shame you can't use the 360 pad on the new one, even if it was just for spares. :)

Listening to giantbomb they said there is nothing in it pad wise this time. I certainly wouldn't dismiss the ps4 on pad this time.

Well, I have no idea what to make of this:

Electronic Arts is one company still asking that question, though, and not necessarily for the reason you'd expect. EA Sports boss Andrew Wilson says that one reason none of its next-gen sports games are coming to PC is because Microsoft and Sony's new game consoles are actually more powerful than many PCs in a very specific, subtle way: "How the CPU, GPU, and RAM work together in concert," Wilson told Polygon.

That might sound suspiciously vague, but we spoke to AMD and it's actually true. The AMD chips inside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One take advantage of something called Heterogeneous Unified Memory Access (HUMA), "Good for gaming, good for AMD"which allows both the CPU and GPU to share the same memory pool instead of having to copy data from one before the other can use it. Diana likened it to driving to the corner store to pick up some milk, instead of driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It's one of AMD's proposed Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) techniques to make the many discrete processors in a system work in tandem to more efficiently share loads.
