Unless they did some major itemisation restructuring I don't think I will ever play this again. I sold all my gear a while back and I'd probably have to drop a few hundred quid to get back to that kind of gear level again.

Level cap is increasing so anything currently held will be useless anyway. You won't need the current top tier gear to do the new content, just a decent set that can be had for a couple of million.

2 years to make a 1 act expansion, lulz. Wonder if they'll actually bring the 1.09 itemisation patch before then.

Already confirmed(planned), from lylirra twitter -

Loot 2.0, along with many other new/updated systems, are currently planned for a pre-expansion patch (available to everyone).

Pretty much this. The Auction House 100% killed the game for the majority of players. the legendary item drops before the Paragon patch were non existent or useless when they did drop.

Just before I stopped playing for good I remember spending more time placing items to sell on the AH or searching the AH than actually playing the game.

No way I will be splashing out on the expansion.
I feel the auction house is getting far to much blame. For me it feels like what really killed the game for the majority of players is the total lack of character replayability and lack of attribute points. The skill system was really poor as well destroying replayability.

unless they remove the rmah won't be interested in playing the expansion at all

I don't think Blizzard is going to be willing to revoke their license to print free money .

Reaper of Souls is what this game might need to get me back into it. Hopefully Blizzard do a collectors edition for the expansion pack :D.

Why even care if the RMAH exists or not? just don't use it, I don't get how or why this would impact your gaming experience unless you're letting it

The loot is always going to be tailored around the RMAH, meaning a solo player can never realistically deck out their own characters end game gear like they'd like. This personally stops me playing, as I can't help but feel like a farming bot when I play as there's no strategy or goal other than keep grinding aimlessly until you get something to sell then repeat.

What they claimed was broken in D2 actually made it way more interesting. You could build a character that they claimed was "OP" but when you played you felt like you'd reached your goal, and earned the right to have this god mode character. Also as you could target specific bosses for the loot you wanted you could build a character/build just for those boss runs, again having strategy and goals. D3 is simply 1. level up 2. use the same build as all the pros 3. grind forever anywhere.
