What film did you watch last night?

I know, she obviously takes after her mother. If you wife is a fan of the books, I expect she would love the film and even if you don't like it, taking her to the cinema to see it has got to worth the brownie points later on....

Yep shes a fan of the books so thats why she wants to go but she doesnt want to force me so may go with a few of her friend instead, which i have no problem with but i know ill get it in the neck later when i want to go see a movie that i like:p

Star Trek Into Darkness 6/10. Not a bad movie but it just felt like I had seen it all before, after all this time star trek still cant get out of the shadow of the Wrath of Khan :(

Elysium

7.5/10

Visually stunning and exciting to watch.
The plot is awful and makes no sense.

It is big and beautiful but most certainly not clever.

Road to Perdition

8.5/10

Great film. I thought the child actor who played micheal jr was amazing (one of the best performances by a kid i have seen...and inormally hate child actors)

I hear that.
Did you find yourself saying 'WTF is this?' at certain points like Spock & Uhura having a domestic while on a ****ing mission?

For me, Cumberbatch, Weller and the visuals were the only real saving graces here.

Ill be generous and say its worthy of a 3 :p

Good man :D
I'm gonna bet that you hated Machete too.

Hobo with a shotgun.

1/10.

utter crap.

Yes and no. I've just watched and I'd say: yes, it's silly, but it knows it. It's so completely and stupidly over the top that the top isn't even visible, no matter how hard you look. The only times it was poor was when it tried to get serious. It knew what it wanted to do, and did it almost perfectly. The target might have been the size of a barn door, but it hit squarely. Etc. It's much worse when a film really doesn't know what to do, or knows, and then goes ahead and makes a pig's ear of it. I'd give it a 7 for effort, and a 5 for attainment.

man of tai chi, a modern day badly made rip off based on the tired cliche of underground private fighting, not a patch on bloodsport that made van damme a star. I was enjoying it mostly

until the random chinese main star killed keanu reeves with a stupid blast of wind that ruined the film, it made the movie a farce

Oblivion again. Saw it in the cinema, and loved it. Watched it again and a couple of plot holes annoyed me slightly more this time around.

Other than that, still think its a really good, enjoyable film, despite its flaws. 8/10

Elysium
6.5/10

Not as good as D9 by far but better than ok, can't put my finger on it, but just felt unbonded to characters

Want to watch D9 now

The Phantom Menace

Watched again with the wee ones. Nowhere near as bad as every fan-boy (and everyone else) made out, and still pretty enjoyable given that the last time I watched it was 1999 or so. Kids loved it, and the special FX are still awesome.
