Yeah in fact, thinking about it, I think I'd rather have the £60m and Rooney.

That way we can flip the bird to both Madrid and Chelsea whilst maintaining our Utd feeder-club status.... :p

But in all seriousness, Madrid's game plan throughout this saga has just been completely disrespectful and to that extent also very unhelpful. And Chelsea from what we've heard have half only gone for Willian because they knew we were in for him (yes yes I know Liverpool were also interested in him but rumour has it we were interested back in January or some lark like that).

So selling Bale elsewhere and taking a rival clubs star target would feel like justice.

i still strongly believe levy wasn't going to sell when a figure of around £60m was rumoured from madrid and i myself said sell him when it was mentioned. madrid got levy's attention by going so high and as much i'll miss him it is right to sell. his stock could've got higher but it also could've got lower and if he didn't sign an extension, we'd have had less negotiating power.

i hope it works out for him a part of me feels he's going a year too early and it's a shame we will never see him play with our new signings. still, as things currently stand he is a spurs player.

Going to be interesting to see what Wenger has to say on SSN later today, coming up soon. Of course it will be the usual rhetoric that we have quality, he believes in the squad and this squad is capable of winning trophies..rinse and repeat:p

Dont really care anymore tbh, its far too late in the window for us to make any decent signings as selling teams now have the power to ask for stupid high transfer fees. If we do buy any players, i can see them being bargain basement deals and unknown/unproven players although i still have faint hope that we do sign a few big players. Biggest mistake we made this summer was telling all and sundry that we have such and such amount ie £70mill to spend so great move Arsenal lol. Now all the teams know how much money we have so will be looking to taking a big chunk of that from us for their players.

I hope Moyes and Woodward have come to their senses and made the £60m plus Rooney offer. That's a better offer than RM's. Please let it be true, Ronaldo and Bale on the wings would demolish Chelsea.

Can't see Rooney playing for Spurs. In no way are we going to pay for his wages for a start.

But my god imagine this.

Walker-Vertonghen-Kaboul-Rose
---Paulinho-Capoue-Sandro---
-----Lamela-----Rooney-----

Nope nothing new from that short interview with Wenger:p...keeping his cards close to his chest when asked about certain players. Basically said its unfair to talk about new players because of the players we already have:confused:.

7 days left or so of the transfer window so lets see what panic buys Wenger comes up with, fingers crossed there will be some quality added before the window closes.

that team would put any other to the test it's got everything and our midfield 3 of paulinho, capoue and sandro would make it very hard for other teams to get any rythm. that's with holtby and dembele on the bench!

in all reality, swap rooney for a more realistic target and it's a very exciting prospect. imagine if bale did stay. wow.

Some Daily Star nonsense about Ronney to Arsenal and back in for Cesar...

Like you said nonsense but doesnt help that Wenger hasnt said much in regards to who we are looking at lol. Mind you like i said in my previous post, hes keeping his cards close to his chest so hopefully he has some big/special signings on the way but im not holding my breath.

It sounds positive on Di Maria and maybe even Cabaye. But.... if we have maybe up to £70mill to spend (which I actually think is less as indicated by Wenger) Di Maria at £25 Mill and Cabaye at £20 Mill, doesnt leave us with much change for a striker, GK and CB!

Would Arsenal be up for spending that much on wages for one player?

No idea but Gazidis did say that we could pay £30mill and pay the player £200k a week if need be but who knows if that is true or not. With Wenger in charge, i cant see us paying £200k for a player whether it be Rooney or someone else.

Di Maria yep seems positive but honestly we dont need him or Cabaye in all honesty. We should be strengthening in the areas we need to ie striker/forward, DM, CB and maybe a GK although Chessers has been pretty solid in our last 2 games, Fenerbache and Fulham. But still i wouldnt seeing Cesar come in to give him and Fabianski some proper competition in the squad...even Begovic would be a good signing GK wise.
