But hes got an ass to die for:p

But yes probably one of the most overrated players i have ever laid my eyes on. Didnt do much during the Confed cup this past summer either.

he didn't score but he played well and a team player.

he has a brutal shot on him, in fact he injured a player for a month from a free kick once.

he scored 23 goals in 26 games playing under AVB a couple of years back.

Career high: Winning the Treble (League, Portuguese Cup and Europa League) with Porto in 2010-11 and netting 23 goals in 26 league games.

Career low: A brawl in the tunnel in December 2009 saw Hulk banned for four months and while it was eventually reduced to four games, that reduction came after he had already missed nine matches. It was an absence that badly affected Porto, causing them to finish third in the Primeira Liga and miss out on the Champions League.

Style: Powerful, quick, explosive, a man-mountain of a striker.

Quotes: "I would be lying if I said no proposals have emerged to sign Hulk. I think the highest bid was €80 million, but Porto did not even want to negotiate." Teodoro Fonseca, Hulk's agent, in September 2011.

He probably has done well gathering the stats you have dug up but everytime i see him play, he doesnt strike me as a very good player. He did ok during the Confed cup but again nothing really outstanding.

the team was built around Neymar, he was simply outshone by him, but he was constantly helping the team, all you heard was Neymar this, Neymar that, so obviously other players in the team didn't get the respect the deserved.

in the final the whole team played the best game of their lives, i was shocked, i was so impressed i still have the game recorded on my sky+ box. they were so up for it, it's a shame they arent that enthusiastic all the time, they only turned it on in the final.

Fred for example has been playing amazing within the Brazilian league for a few years now, it's a pity other managers didnt give him a chance and played youngsters instead. fred is very very underrated, he is technically amazing and strong, he regularly scores multiple goals in the brasilian league, i think he even managed 4 or 5 a few times as well the season before last. would have loved to see him play in a better league.

Hulk would instantly improve tottenham, chelsea have been after him for years.

He made some really good obvious decisions other managers just seem to have missed, like the fact David Luiz is a midfielder shoehorned into a CB. I have always thought that from the very first time I seen him play, he loves going forward, is great on the ball and can pick out a 50 yard pass with either foot as well as bang them in the net. Takes a great free kick as well.

Err - isn't that your typical Brazilian defender?

According to some spanish journo Utd have bid 45m euros for Ozil and are currently talking personal terms with his agent/ father.........

Hope its true...but given the stupidly low numbers Utd have been offering this summer, I doubt itz true :(

Ozil 45mil Euros, yet you tried to get Cesc for initially 25mil....... lololololololol.

Ozil isn't bad, he'll help open up weaker sides but he disappears so frequently in tougher games. When given just a few seconds of time on the ball and not a huge amount of physical pressure he can be anything from good to phenomenal, but against truly top opposition he's usually quite easily pressured completely out of a game. He's significantly better than what you have in a playmaker role(with the potential exception of Kagawa who I both haven't seen enough of and hasn't hit form with Utd to prove he can be great).

45mil for Ozil even Euro's is another from 15-25mil too much. I wouldn't pay much more than 20mil for him because he really hasn't improved from the stage they bought him at and I would think he only has 2 years on his contract best case.

Moyes probably won't sign anyone this window. We have a playmaker and that's Kagawa, he didn't get enough chances last season but he was played on the left wing mostly. Mata can play in various positions properly but Chelsea won't sell him.

Rumours are that Ronaldo wants to come back to United next summer. I bet there's a clause in there that United get him for less than £50m.

I'm thinking Levy is stalling on the Bale deal now, that price is now rumoured £86m and not £94m, maybe he's asking for a loan back until next summer. Would be great to see Roman's and Jose's smirk wiped of their faces when they hear Bale's back at Spurs. Bale's only going to get better.

I can dream that Bale and Ronaldo will be on the wings at Man Utd next summer playing in the good old 4-4-2 formation if the Bale deal doesn't go through.

Kagawa isn't really a playmaker, more of a No 10 to sit behind RvP

Whether the offer is real is more important than whether Utd have paid too much (Utd always end up paying too much anyway) - its not like any of the top three will miss an additional 10 - 15m euros on relatively top player anyway.

He would greatly improve Utd, and that's what matters (if its true and if the deal goes through)

edit - Personally don't think Ronaldo will come back that soon, I think he will sign another contract at RM for another 3 years and then come back to OT in his early 30's

Meh, playmaker/withdrawn striker, its much of a muchness. Kagawa is closer to a midfield creator than a striker and that is what Ozil is. He rarely/ever plays central midfield. Much of the last few years Real play a 4-2-3-1 with Ronaldo/Ozil/Di Maria(or Higuain) the three with Ozil being central most of the time though he can and has played wide plenty. I think for Germany he plays wide left fairly often when Podolski isn't in there.

generally speaking he would improve Utd in general quality and ability, but the question stands, that technical ability and thinking isn't much use in the biggest games if he gets flustered under pressure. Sometimes your rugged fairly untechnical workhorse gets more done in that role in a big game against tough opposition than a technically better player. Now I'm not saying a Fletcher type is prefered in that role against better opposition, just that if you're talking about a player like Ozil who tends to crumble under the pressure... a player like Fletcher might be more effective in particular games.

Thing is, where Utd most need to improve is games against the big teams, to improve to compete with Barca/Bayern/Dortmund in Europe it's the biggest games that matter the most and for me where they should focus on improving. Ozil IMHO isn't that player... can he let you rest other players in smaller games and make for a more effective team over a season, I think most definitely. But I don't think he'll move Utd forward when it comes to the crunch ties.

Again that isn't a bad thing, if you can find guys who are good enough for the 70% of easier games a team like Utd face... so what, that's great... the problem is when you are talking about 45mil for a player like that.

Chiriches is quality from what I've seen, Arsenal should be trying to 'steal' his transfer from Spurs :)

Big goal threat too for a defender - if he does join and get in the Spurs team, keep an eye out for some cheeky anytime goalscorer bets.

Then we don't need Ozil, we need someone like Carrick, basically we need Fellaini. A player who isn't afraid to bully other players :)
We'll end up with Fellaini.

As for Ronaldo, I don't see why he'd want to stay in a 2 team league where he's won basically nothing and one that is boring to watch. He'll be back next summer imo.

Vlad Chiriches does look pretty good, hope Spurs have actually signed him, same goes for Lamela.

Ronaldo was absolutely proven, a bad season for Ronaldo was going to be missing half a year injured and only getting 15 goals, while a good season had the potential to smash his 42 goal year, and it's been almost all better seasons. Bale..... lol, nothing would be funnier than dismal failure on a massive scale. At something over 80mil anything short of 20 goals a season will be seen as a massive failure, and he'll want to do that every year.

Thanks to what Ronaldo has achieved which the last three years is 53/64/57 goals, frankly Bale needs to be scoring 40+ goals a year or 80mil is a joke. Ronaldo had already had a 42 goal season and three years scoring over 20 in the league, with his highest at 32 goals 50% higher than what Bale has managed in the league.

Bale could turn out brilliant but frankly I think he'll struggle to ever score 30 in a season, particularly with Ronaldo taking penalties/freekicks.

Bale will play on the right wing, Bale has the speed and his ability to shoot from outside the box coming in from the right is insanely good. He'd only get better under AVB.

He's clearly Ronaldo's replacement in the long run though. If Ronaldo didn't have intentions of leaving RM next summer, I doubt they would have spent this much, they'd wait till next year but by then other clubs like PSG and Man City with more financial power would be interested. Those two clubs have more attraction, one is in the PL and the other is in Paris.

Oh well, that's that then. Hopefully this saga will now be put to bed allowing us to move on and finish off these last couple of deals.

I do wish the boy luck over in Spain, I just hope, for his sake that it doesn't go sour as I feel that with one more season here, he could have developed even further and who knows what might have been.

avb looks kinda silly after saying how much he wasn't for sale imo , but how bale is worth more than ronaldo and x4 than RVP etc is beyond me
