**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I wouldn't bet on it, though I wouldn't be surprised if MS do announce the release date at PAX. It's a US based show and they see the US as their primary market alongside Europe (perhaps even ahead of Europe). I also wouldn't be surprised if they announced a free game for the US customers considering they won't get Fifa for free like we do.

Madden would be the obvious one.

Ive never considered that MS considered EU in the same 'tier' (for want for a better word) than US, what makes you think EU could even be equal?

It still confuses me why we are getting FIFA as part of EU supposedly due to the EU launch delay but arent delayed ourselves? Its a good quirk, but could be construed as a possible white elephant...

Sheer numbers. The population of North America is around 530m people, while the population of the EU is around 510m or so. Very comparable numbers, though obviously there will be differing demographics within each region.

Are you meaning that Fifa is being supplied due to the reduction of launch countries in Europe? As that is something I haven't read.

Seems that MS may still be looking into allowing the selling on of your digital games (huge if true IMO).

This was posted by cboat on GAF (survey?):

For the following questions please assume that Microsoft Xbox One will offer a digital marketplace where you can purchase and sell digital video games.

New digital marketplace where you can purchase and sell digital video games:
-This will be available through the systems’ premium subscription service (such as Xbox Live Gold/Playstation Plus)
-You will have the ability to purchase and sell pre-owned digital video games.
-You will have the ability to sell back/trade in your versions of digital games you have purchased.
-You will have the ability to buy pre-owned digital versions of games through the online marketplace.
-You will have a variety of prices and features available to purchase for pre-owned digital versions of games.
-All transactions will take place via digital downloads/transfers within your next generation gaming system’s digital store.
-New full game digital downloads will still be available, as will physical (disc) versions sold at retail stores/websites.
-Pre-owned disc versions of games will be able to be played on the next generation gaming system for free.
-There will be a marketplace service fee charged to the seller when they sell a digital version of a game.

Digital marketplace? Sounds good to me!

Wow the above certainly could be huge. Really interesting.

Imagine being able to list it like ebay (for free) and someone just can click buy (you name the price) and once they pay it gets taken from your HDD and they can download it to theres automatically.. That would be ridiculous.

You're not allowed to post CBOAT stuff in here anymore as he's always wrong apparently ;)

He's also said that some staff are getting trained on 15th Nov for something to do with XB1, so release date is expected to be after that

That digital marketplace really would be interesting but I still can't see any advantage that MS or the publishers/developers of the game would get out of it.
Making price cuts (ie. Steam) makes sense as the game will sell more later in its life cycle.
Stores offering trade-ins makes sense for them because they continue to make money on those games that they get to keep themselves.
But where does the advantage come from with this digital marketplace? Thats why I can't see it happening

We all know that bricks and mortar retail is dying. What will the highstreet look like in 10 years? I think this is just future planning. It's a matter of 'when' not 'if'.

What's the point in offering second hand digital games and new digital? Who's gonna buy new?

Maybe the digital pre-owned games will not have any DLC with it (in case the original owner decides to re-buy the game again), so like now if you want the full experience you will have to buy new or buy the DLC seperately.

He was last time ;) Seriously though, rumours are interesting, I just don't put a lot of stock in them personally. People are free to believe what they wish :)

The profit that the physical shops make from your 2nd hand games can go back to the publishers and developers instead. The more money developers make, the better games we get in the future. That works well for me.

I'll be dubious about any digital 2nd hand marketplace until I see some proper info from MS. Now that the console can be played completely offline, including your digital purchases, they have to be sure they can get the market working in such a way as to not be abused by someone who may list the game for sale and then disconnect their Xbox to get more game time. It could work I guess if the moment you list your game for sale you lose your digital rights to it, even if it doesn't sell for weeks. There are a lot of angles to consider I think before I can see a digital 2nd hand marketplace becoming a reality.

That sounds interesting for sure, I was pretty hoping that I wouldn't have to buy any physical media this generation - if the above is true I definitely won't be.

I hope the release isn't after the 15th. Surely it would be too close to the ps4 release anyway? I don't think iI would be a good idea to release there consoles at the same time or within a week of each other.

But it doesn't make sense for MS/publishers to offer 'second hand' digital games on the marketplace (within like a day for most games) as the new digital copy will still be selling so they'd be losing out on money just so customers can get their games cheaper.
It just doesn't make sense for them. The only current model that really works for digital games is the big price cuts when games stop selling like with Steam. Thats good for both the customer and the publishers.

If they do allow the second hand sale of digital games I can't see it being a member massive open market. I think it will be between people on your friends list only, or a list of nominated people.

I really can't see them having open second hand market for digital games as the new digital copies would never sell.

Digital market would certainly stop M$ making more money... people desperate for cash or who dont care would just put games up super cheap, i imagine it being like FIFA UT at the 59th minute mark, scanning for cheap games.. going to purchase and bam sold.
