Has anyone done 150mi in one ride before? I think I've got everything covered but I just wonder if there is something glaring I haven't considered. It should be fine, it's just a century + a half century :D

Route is sorted
Clothing is sorted
Food is sorted
Lights fitted in case it gets dark
Drink I can only carry 1L but I expect for a 10-12h ride I'll need to refill somehow
I need to bring a backpack which isn't ideal but it shouldn't be too heavy.

Will have 2 spare tubes, puncture kit, pump, mini tool, mobile phone and driving licence in case they need to ID my corpse.:D
For refilling just stop at a pub. Never had an issue there, and every now and again I've bought a coke if I'm bonking.

Not sure you need a backpack, rear light already attached, front light should fit in a jersey pocket. Rain coat that fits in a jersey pocket. If you're taking that much food, a top tube carrier is ideal.

Well, I'm going back to my home town so need some "normal" clothes. I don't want to get beaten up so going to the pub in lycra is a no-no.:D

Going to consider getting a higher geared rear wheel for the hills. Any suggestions for a good climbing wheel for 10 speed Ultegra/Dura ace mix groupset? Should really weigh my current one but obv as light as possible whilst not Zipp price.

The usual recommendations are:

Shimano C24, Mavic Ksyrium Elite, Fulcrum Racing 3

Either take a carry on bag, or mail the clothes. A backpack is a terrible idea imo. You're going to be in a world of hurt.

Hmm k :/. No way I'd do 150 miles with a backpack.

Also just noticed; 10-12h?

I don't know how long it will take me or if I can even manage it! 10 hours will be an average of 15mph which doesn't seem too quick/slow.

Damn, if I bought Rapha clothing I could wear it off the bike and still look cool!;)

Just thought I'd cheer you all up with my lame score:

VeloViewer Score 73.61
From 55 of 221 segments.
Maximum possible score: 99.16

I really need to get out on the bike more and start shifting up those hills!

Jesus given the price I can't say no to the Fulcrum 3s.

Not going to replace my Pro Lites for an Aero ride but they look a damned good buy for the hills.

Well as a rough guide my recent century took me 4hr 52mins.

I've not been using Strava long, and only just found veloviewer. I think it might be quite addictive (VV that is, we all know that Strava is already).

VeloViewer Score
82.70 ?
From 22 of 87 segments.
Maximum possible score: 99.73

10-12 hours seems about right to me, depending how long you stop for lunch, etc.

I took a small backpack when i did a ride like that, i couldnt fit all the stuff i wanted to take into my pockets. It was a very small camelbak bag like this with the bladder removed. Wasnt particularly uncomfortable but i wouldnt want to carry anything much bigger.

If you've done 75 or a century you can ride any distance if you pace yourself and keep your body fuelled. Just go at your "forever pace". 15mph is a decent base. When I did 207mi I played around with the speed calculator on:

http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/bike/speed_distance_time_calc.html

And settled on an average pace of 13.5mph would be reasonable time/effort balance. Always better to underestimate and pace yourself when venturing into the unknown. Then gage how you feel and adjust as you go. I finished up averaging 16.3mph

Carry as little as possible. I took:
Money, phone, bonk food.
1 * inner tube and non glue patch kit, pump
2 * bottles 500ml, refill on coffee stops or shops and grab some extra food - jelly beans, flapjacks etc..
Arm/Leg warmers - can be taken on/off as appropriate

Well, I believe I've posted in here before... But not been too regular with it!

After a year with a hybrid, I went and picked up a Btwin Triban 3...

Thoroughly enjoying it, the difference is night and day.

Been training up for the past two months... Half hour sprints to and from the gym each day, leg days every third, as well as a longer ride every couple of days. Planning to cycle to Paris halfway through September, and really looking forward to it.
