Surely thought it would be the post office that benefits this scam as they'd be the one supplying the form?
It's usually card information they have to enter.
I'm sensing a troll/made up story here.
I hate to worry you more but ....
Your Grandparents will now be on what is called a "sucker list" and there is a good chance they will be actively targeted by other scams.
The scumbags actually sell on this sort of information if they sent a cheque they now have basic bank details know the type of bank and name and of course there was probably a covering letter with the cheque , find out if they got any other information.
The follow ups can just as likely come by phone or post than by computer get them to be extra vigilant of to good to be true offers.

Might be a bit overkill but why not install Ubuntu and theme it to look like Windows?
Problem solved.
Why does the post office offer scam payment services?
Why does the post office offer scam payment services?
They don't...they offer perfectly legal payment methods which are sometimes used by people for unethical means.
This is a scam right?
Im guessing his computer must be hacked for them to shut it down and wouldn't be safe using online banking etc?
