wouldn't say completely pointless. there are still those without smart phones (e.g. my dad xD "pointless" haha).

what If ya just wanted to hold it and do point&shoot quickly? be a bit of a pain to whip out your phone and hold them both trying to get a quick bit of footage xD

but yea, are there incar chargers for these? possibility of hard wiring a power cable in the car so there is constant power to these little cameras? :D

Andrew, can you tell me if the 4S has a timelapse function?
I need a cam that I can set to take a full resolution still every 5 seconds.
Also, if it can do this, can it output via AV what the lens is seeing at the same time? IE, a live video feed independent of the shooting mode. (My GoPro does this and it's a feature I absolutely need)

If it can do this, I'm seriously thinking about buying one for one of my multirotors.

Something else to test! Nathwraith has the4S at the moment, will see if he can sort the testing out for you :)
 
after watching the video posted with the white scooby wow absolutely terrible quality.

go pro tbh or save money.
 
YouTube compression isn't THAT bad, and my gripe with these devices is the audio quality moreso than the video quality anyway.. Seems pretty awful! But then they've got tiny little condenser mics hidden by plastic housings I guess.

This is true. But I don't have a side-by-side comparison to do with those vids.
I won't be replacing my GoPro Hero 3 Black with any of these. I was thinking of getting one of the cheaper ones as a "I don't care if it drops from the sky and smashes to pieces" secondary FPV cam for sport flying and AP. They look to be just the ticket for that.

I'm not denying that GoPro is better. They are the market leader for a reason.
 

It seems to suffer in low light, also the transition seems to be really poor too, probably down to low FPS?
 
im no expert, and never used a gopro to compare so just posting what i had filmed :)

i guess i am the untrained eye here but that video above doesn't look much different, maybe the rollei is a little lighter on some of the colours.

i will be honest, did a bit of testing in my bedroom whilst setting it up and the low light performance was awful. i imagine most cameras of this ilk would suffer from similar though
