Eventually, but probably not until 90%+ of the country is on fibre broadband. So, that's probably 20 years away!Surely we'll eventually just stream them or download them.

You can't, not even I can do thatHow do you check to see who's voted for what? i'm sure you could click on the numbers before and see who has voted

You could do before, i'm 100% sure you could see who voted for what

Quite possibly, I tend not to go into the technicals too much, I just care that it runs the games I want
I did hear though that MS have a feature where developers can take more than the allocated 5GB ram if they need to, all the way up to 7.5GB I think it was. I'll try to find a link for it, as I'm sure I didn't dream it!
You sure its the XB1? as something was mentioned like that for the PS4? Albeit it was less of a increase in Ram, from what been said from devs/slides etc its 1Gb for each OS on the XB1 and sounds like all 3 are required to run games with the snap features/overlay.
I think pretty much everyone already knows I'm getting an Xbox One, hiding the votes doesn't change thatWhy was the poll made private Davey?

With the Xbox One, the games OS and Windows OS can exist autonomously, since they are each interacting with the hardware directly via the hypervisor rather than one being layered on top of the other. This means that if necessary, all memory for the Windows side can just be shifted over to games.
While Windows has access to roughly 2.5 GB (assuming the hypervisor requires 500 MB) and games are allowed 5 GB, the hypervisor could theoretically allocate memory from Windows for use in games. This technically means that if the Windows process is suspended and all resources are allocated for games that developers have up to 7.5 GB to use for game development.
Don’t expect it to be that much though. For all intents and purposes, 6 GB sounds much more realistic. But given the fact that one can’t switch or “snap” apps with a title such as Killer Instinct, it stands to reason that developers are indeed currently using the hypervisor in order to grab more resources for games.
All of them have been private, you can see for yourself - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18519302 and http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18521456Seriously though, why did you make it private? the last one wasn't for sure as i remember looking through who has voted for what.
Possibly, but how(is?) accessing that pool of unified memory effected by the differences in HSA bus speed(I don't know)? 30GB/s vs 20GB/s sounds significant, but I must confess I don't have the vaguest idea if that has any practical effect? The thing is it seems the PS4 looks to be better designed and is looks to be easier for devs to get the best out of it sooner. The fact that unlike the XB1 the PS4 full memory pool can be accessed at full speed by all components at the same time without having to use move/shape engines and limited to 32mb high speed memory, prob gives PS4 a head start.
I think you need to hope that games never use that feature, its tantamount to killing any chance of improving/developing the OS features...
Im coming around to the opinion that by the time we have an infrastructure thats ready for digital downloads it probably be time to jump to digital streaming anyway.
If you look at people arguing about how other media has moved to digital purchases we are actually already moving away from that to digital streaming anyway
You could quite easily consider the ame argument about the XOs HDMI passthrough feature versus the uptake of IPTV.
Its probably best to either be the content provider or if you cant do that, be responsible for the conduit infrastructure (which does seem like the crux). In both cases the box at the end, might just matter very little...

Possibly, but I'd imagine it's something that could easily be restricted via a software update if needed.I think you need to hope that games never use that feature, its tantamount to killing any chance of improving/developing the OS features...
