**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Can someone expand on that please, two things that still interest me are:

- Does the initial online check actually disable the DRM or is this just suspicion, as why would the DRM still be built in, wouldnt they have had the time to remove it from retail OS?

- There was a video showing an undisclosed port at the back of the retail(?) XO but Ive seen little mention of it since - I cant remember which review site mentioned it, maybe TechRadar....

From what I've read, all xbox's must be registered online but the drm will either be removed completely or just disabled with the update when you first connect it to xbox live. I doubt they had time to remove it before it went in to the manufacturing stages.

It's a patch that disables the DRM. I must admit I've seen no explanation for why it's not been fixed pre-release.

Well thats a bit wierd, but I wont say more than that ;)

OK found the video I meant, it was TechRadar - heres the direct link -

Scroll to 1.50 to see the back, gets mentioned soon after.

Definitely has an additional port comparing to the MN unboxing, so I guessed they dropped it, also the positioning of the ports have changed too...

Scroll to 1.30 to compare

Wonder what is was...

The mystery port could be for a key to prevent unauthorised booting? Wouldn't be needed on the release consoles.

I hadnt seen the MN unboxing til today so I wasnt aware it had been removed til after I posted :o.

What I am confused about is the dates of those videos as it seems wierd reviewers didnt have retail versions of the XO and if they did have some reviewer version as the MN unboxing was already out there, they wouldnt have been directed by MS just to ignore the port completely....

As you said its something out of nothing...

The mystery port looks like a USB Printer port. Maybe it's a way for devs to boot into a console for diagnostics or something?
