Solo Carbon ordered.

On another note.. just bought myself a 2010 Specialized Demo.. I blame you guys.

I think I'll be buying myself a proper DH bike next year.

On monday the SX is getting treated to:
FSA Comet crankset
Shimano SLX clutch rear mech
Shimano SLX front mech
Shimano SLX cassette
Hope pro 2's on Stans Flows
Spank Spike 777 bars.

Already fitted Hope tech M4's last Monday.
Then after all that the next step is getting it powder coated, the rear shock serviced and some 2013 Marzocchi 55r's

Bikes getting treated :D

Huzzaaahhh, so much new bikestuff :)

Im slightly worried at the moment that the medium spitfire i ordered might be too small innthe TT for me. Tested a medium Rune and a large spitfire yesterday, and they were too small and too big respectively (rune's geo is nigh on precisely the same)

My garage is a mess of bike bits at the moment, the Undead is in all sorts of bits and parts, have a half built Shan in there, another AM bike's parts apart from a frame....and very randomly, and I'm slightly name dropping....Kurt Sorge's brand new Rebull Rampage Giant Glory.

anyone used garmin 200 for directions? Thinking of getting one as i am useless with a map. Friend has an 800 and loves it but obviously it's a lot more expensive so i would expect it to be good.

i don't think you can use the 200 for directions i think it only records data.

You can use it for directions however you need to preload a route before you set off. It then gives you a breadcrumb trail to follow against the white background.

I've used mine in the peaks and it's pretty good.

Smart so you'd recommend one? Wasn't sure what the breadcrumb trail would be like for following, as long as it's fairly accurate it'll do :) Present sorted for my birthday next month

So... I tried my first proper jump today! Then spent 4 hours in a&e! Haha. Luckily nothing broken, just sore thumb, wrist an shoulder. Nice cuts and bump on my face with what looks like will be a pretty special black eye. And some concussion.

Completely knackered the back wheel as well! Looks a bit like a crisp, hahaha!

Awesome, its all part of the game, get the bike sorted and get back at it again!!! i so nearly ended up in the same situation on about 3 separate occasions today.
I went up to Esholt woods for a blast, but i was riding very sloppy today for some reason, feet coming off the pedals, struggling to carry speed on run ups to jumps resulting in a few extremely sketchy landings, just one of those days where i just couldnt hook things up smoothly after about and hour and a half i sacked it before i either broke myself or my bike, met another couple of real friendly local riders though, great vibe they have going on there!

Aye, make sure the first thing you do when you're feeling up to it, is go back and do it again. Don't let the fear get a hold of you!

More of the same from me today, from the usual place, doing the usual trick on the usual jump.

Oh I plan to! I wanted to straight away, until I moved my hand... Changed my mind then :p

I'll be back though, no point letting it scare me!

 What's that doing in there?

Long boring story, but Ive mentioned before that a friend of mine works for Giant and that he spanners for the Factory DH team ( used to spanner for Danny Hart, but now for Needles and Marcello).

He also looks after other Giant sponsored riders now and then, for example Kurt at the rampage. Giant wanted to do something special and wanted a my mate to sort out having the frame anodised.

My mate's running shortn time, so i offered to takeit to have it stripped and ano'd while he's away with the team in Hafjell. Got some free muddy marys, the new supergravity Hans Dampfs etc for it, so im happy :)

(Ps: Kurt will most likely not be doing the rampage this year, broke his leg recently...but Giant still wants the bike done)

I find it hard enough navigating with an 800 + official garmin maps lol..

some of the paths on it are out by metres! it's sent me the wrong way loads of times and theres one point where the blue line is half way in the river tyne rather than alongside it.

I don't know just how useful directions with no actual map would be.

you might be better off getting a cheap android phone and putting navfree on it and just get it out if you get lost or use headphones and audible navigation instructions

It's not for me :p Someone recommend the wife get a fitting done. I don't see the point. Find the bike you want. Try it for size. Buy stem, post, bar to fit. Job done. Or am I missing something?

you would think some shops would do it to get a sale

Wharncliffe :D I think my front wheel clipped a rock when I was landing, and I got launched probably 20ft? And I managed to cover about 7/8ft with the jump... Probably not the best idea trying such a jump for my first :P

Whoops :D Where abouts were you? There's a couple of really nice tables on the steel city track that are perfect for practising on. I was there last Wednesday and it was absolutely bone dry (good timing as I'm sure it's not like that now), the new berms they've added halfway down are brilliant too!
