*** iPhone 5S/5C - September 10th ***

Most iPhone users are not computer hardware enthusiasts (computer geeks) and couldn't care less about the processor speed/gpu/memory etc etc. That is fact. The iPhone 5 works flawlessly as it is and completes tasks quickly and smoothly, therefore an improvement in CPU speed is really redundant for the majority of iPhone users.

I also agree with the screen comment. I wouldn't want a massive phone, I think the IP5 is spot on. I don't use it as a games console, I have a PS3 for that. I don't watch movies on it, I have a home cinema setup for that. It's a sodding phone and it has been a bloody good one since the 4 IMO. I think the 4S was to be fair a massive improvement on the 4 in terms of speed but since then there's really been no noticeable difference, there's nothing in terms of speed between the 4S and 5.

Because Google doesn't have the marketing like apple does.. That's how they sell they paint a pretty picture to its consumers and makes them believe that they are getting an amazing device.. Dont get me wrong the iPhone is a good device... But they are lacking compared to the competition IMO.... Google do not need to market like apple does.. They know its consumers know what they are getting and do not need to paint the whole world with it.

People are not on android threads convincing people because they have no clue about anything else out there... Well the majority don't.. Its all about iPhone to them.

People on here do though, I'm sure computer enthusiasts would know a bit more than your average person about phones.

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion and there's nothing at all wrong with Android, and I'm sure for some people it's better, but the opposite also applies. That's what you need to understand. It's really a rather pointless discussion.

Guys, i hate to disappoint but Apple is testing iPhones with larger displays so you boys best get ready for bigger phones. Will they then magically be the perfect size also??

Android offer so much more for what iOS offers now..

that's exactly the thing - Apple make fantastic phones let down by its archaic and frankly laughable iOS. the exact reverse seems true for android as I'm yet to see an android phone which ticks all the boxes hardware wise. grr.

Seriously, No!
I would choose iOS over Android any day of the week.

The 4C could be technically inferior to the 5 and people will still buy it. As I said above most consumers are not interested in the technical specs such as processor speed and just want the latest model. We may all have opinions on whether or not the iPhone is any good but one thing that is irrefutable is the fact it is the biggest technological fashion accessory in the world.

What if they offer a choice of screen size (which is almost certainly what they'll do)?

It depends what you like, there's nothing wrong with iOS at all. It's greatly improved with iOS 7 too.

NFC + biometrics = secure shopping with no need for a wallet.

I think everyone has NFC a bit wrong, I wouldn't really use it for shopping or even sending content. The best thing about NFC is pairing a device, and Apple's ecosystem has a lot of devices that need to pair up. Imagine how simple life would be if you could just tab your iPhone to your iPad/Macbook and it just connected and read to not only share data through Airdrop but do a lot of other neat things they can imagine.

This where NFC just shines, everyone hates pairing devices and it just removes that layer of stupid fiddling with your phone, and it just fits in with the Apple way of things that 'just work'.

So whats going to happen when Apple release a phone with a larger screen which they will no doubt at some point? What you guys going to do then?

They using plastic now which Samsung has been using for a while which every one slates Samsung for but its ok for Apple to put plastic on a phone...

Either put up with it or keep one of the earlier models for as long as I can. Your logic is that we should jump ship because apple will probably eventually remove one of the feature points that iPhone users like. This is why you are coming across as an immature troll.

Besides, its not even really news, I would be surprised if Apple didn't. I'm pretty sure most companies do this, they test a huge range of sizes, and Samsung just releases every single one they think is OK :P.

And yet anyone who knows anything about hardware will tell you that the speed of the processor and the amount of ram don't dictate the speed or responsiveness of the phone....

Indeed. Out of the box the very powerful Galaxy S4 is really rather slow (as well as unstable). Samsung have used so much bloatware it's actually beyond a joke.

Brand awareness/development and advertisements are why the Galaxy range is doing so well. Yes, marketing and consumer loyalty contributes to the success of the iPhone, but that's the same with Samsung. So yes, in that respect Google (or in this case an OEM using Google software) do need advertising to market their products. Silly to say otherwise.

And you say that the majority of iPhone users aren't aware of alternatives; keeping in mind that the average Joes and Janes, both on the Android and iOS sides, aren't as interested in the market as we are on here, how come that all the iPhone users in this forum know about the alternatives? You can say we're exceptions, but you'll find that the majority of Samsung Galaxy owners are pretty much the same as the iPhone camp - they say that their phone is better than an iPhone without really knowing what they're talking about.

The thing that does it for android for me is the end user customisation.. Open source not locked down in any way.. Better design etc

But each to their own that's what makes us different :) some people prefer simplicity.. And that's what iOS offers.

I never said anything about jumping ship. I said what you Apple fans going to do when they release a bigger phone seeing as they already have the perfect screen size? Will that mean people will have evolved to hold bigger phones because clearly 5" phones are too much for Apple fanatics to hold and use?

But when they do release a phone with a bigger display it will be like "we know what people want and they want a larger screen and its perfect"

Mate I give up, I get them impression they are both about 15 and think that having a better spec sheet tells them everything they need to know.

They keep saying how wonderful android and samsung are but haven't managed to explain anything that is better about those devices. I couldn't care less what phone people prefer, its a personal choice and both have their pros and cons.

I've used both and much prefer iOS and the iPhone but there are plenty who have done the same and prefer android. It depends on what you use it for and whether you care about tinkering with your phone that much. I don't care about that a don't have the time for it anymore.

I'll get the 5S on contract when it comes out and it will be a great phone. iOS7 is lovely and addresses pretty much every issue I had with iOS while maintaining the simplicity of the phone so I am happy.
