I bought an S4 a few weeks ago, as I fancied one. I don't think it's better than my iPhone 5 (at all), nor do I think Android is better.
I'll keep this short and sweet as I don't want this thread to be Apple v Android, as it always is, but these points need to be addressed. I prefer the iPhone 5 (and subsequently the 5S) because:
- It's faster at almost everything in real use
- It's more stable, and in my experience crashes occur far less frequently, you don't get to get rogue apps popping up that will flatten your battery
- The apps are better. I use Twitter a lot on my phone and there isn't a single Android Twitter app that is fit to lick the boots of TweetBot
- It's easier to handle due to the size, this is preference and could be a positive or a negative, I don't mind either way personally
- I like using iMessage and I like the integrated way it works, as most of my family have iPhones
Now of course, this won't apply to everyone, but it's very much all valid. I think iOS 7 is just as good as Android, yes it's directly less capable, but capability isn't everything. Things like widgets aren't generally of great importance, I found myself putting them there for the sake of it, rather than because they're actually useful.
I wonder where Jonny Ive got his *inspiration* for his *cutting edge* design, Hmmmmmmmm?

I have not used an iphone 5 but i have and use a iphone 4s and my s4 is comparable speed-wise to the iphone 4s.
Also many use whatsapp which can work in whatever OS you use so i dont think iMessag or even google hangouts has a tramendous advantage over the over.
WhatsApp is good enough!
What I what I really don't get is their pricing strategy for 5c/5s. They seem to have priced the 5c out of the market.
If you're buying outright and already spending that much on a phone, why would you not pay the extra £70 for a substantially better phone (at least in perceived quality)?
Also because the prices are so similar I'd imagine the contracts will be the same price but you have to pay slightly more upfront for the 5s.
I personally would have preferred them to just do what they normally do, keep the last generation of iPhone and stick it at around £429.
The pricing just seems so backwards.
RTM'd, enough of this tripe.
Just finished watching the video.
Quite like this quote from Tim Cook near the end:
What he means is that Apple don't pack in long list of comprehensive features just so it looks more impressive on paper, but they're added for a reason.
Compare the specs of the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S4 and then try and understand why the underlying hardware specs aren't the be all and end all.
WhatsApp, I felt, has always looked terrible. The interface just isn't clean and as nice an experience to use. Kik IMO has a better layout but for some reason that isn't as popular...

You've fallen for their marketing, unless you truly believe Apple is the only company adding features for a reason or that their reasons are better.
I don't understand why Apple get their own forum and threads whereas all other mobile manufacturers are lumped together? All that means is that we can't talk about comparisons as we're "fanboys" or "trolls"....everyone in the mobile section gets along, be it talking about WP8 or Android, why is Apple so exclusive in that regard?
Anyway, I'm no Apple fan, don't understand the hype but the 5S certainly looks like a decent enough phone and if you're upgrading from a 4S or something then it looks to be a good leap, but from a 5 not so much. I personally like the large screen which rules it out for me, plus IOS seems a bit stale, however I haven't tried 7 yet so I'm open to change!
There were loads of people at my Uni who were stating they "cant wait until a company launch a 7" phone so i wont need a tablet anymore".
Screen size is starting to get rather silly.
