Your LBS will do individual cables for a couple of squid each. Looking good (although white tape on a winter bike?). Are you going to put an decals on her or keep it bare?
tthat saddle and bartape won't be white for long lol
Yep the old white bar tape trick! This stuff actually cleans pretty well and the saddle has 4000 miles of my harris sitting on it so its holding up not to badly.
Not sure about decals. I think I will finish it off and ride it before deciding.

One Cotic Roadrat frame on it's way. Anyone want to buy a CAAD CX9?

Dammit, you should be banned from here as well!!!
...how much?
You know Tony Martin runs on clinchers?
Has he said why? Tubs are better in every way other than ease of replacing the tyre. Tubeless could give a slight improvement in rolling resistance at the expense of weight I suppose.
Did 90% of my winter bike build today. Considering it was my first ever build it didn't go too badly. Normally half way through DIY project I wish I hadn't started and start looking for a hammer however this wasn't too bad.
Pressed in BB cups with make shift press tool made from some threaded rod, nuts, washers and some hard wood. Hard to get the bearings to line up straight but a bit of gentle persuasion worked.
Routing cables was actually pretty easy despite the internal cable design of the frame. I actually found cutting the cable outers and sizing them a harder job.
Bar tape isn't the most pro job but it will do for this bike.
The one **** up I made was when I was setting the rear mech and indexing. I managed to fray the gear cable and basically that means I need a new cable.
Everything else seems to be ok.
not the best light for a photo but here is a quick pic of the progress.
Need to buy a hacksaw tomorrow and get a new gear cable.

Niceone! Looks decent.
Pro tip for cables, get some 1.5mm heat shrink from maplin or somewhere and heat shrink the end of the cable. It won't fray when you start pushing it through guides and mechs etc.
Seeing as though I am a total wuss and scared of getting rain on my bike, can anybody recommend me a turbo trainer for winter please?
I've been looking at this one on Wiggle:

I cant' recommend it but I've just ordered it this morning so hopefully its good.
I did 58 miles in the peaks with some friends yesterday. My longest ride before was 50 miles around flat lincolnshire so it was a bit different.
It felt like such an epic ride. It was my first time being on the wheel of someone which was also fun. I LOVE going down massive hills.
Average speed is something I get kinda stuck on. It doesn't matter what sort of distance I do whether it is my normal commute or a weekend ride for fun I am having trouble cracking the 17-18mph average speed bracket. I tend to hover around the high 16's. Gets annoying sometimes as every time I glance down at the Cateye on the bars its registering around the 18mph mark then when I finish the ride and check its stuck at 16 ish. I know the simple answer is pedal faster but it doesn't seem to be as easy as that, maybe I'm getting too hung up about it?![]()
Yeah, you are.
Firstly - what does average speed actually matter? Secondly put the miles in, stay on the bike and it will improve. You won't get much faster if you don't work at it, eg intervals, strength training and so on, but it'll come.
Good lad! Got a link to the ride?
I was let down by my mates yesterday so went on my own. Furthest I've been on my own. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined. The elevation reading went a bit fuzzy half way around thoughhttp://www.strava.com/activities/85719592
Oh yes and it was obscenely windy in places making it tough!! But that was balanced out by it being wind with on the way down the cat.![]()
Exactly that, just crack on with the training and it will eventually improve. I know I've started to go on about it, but training with power will really show you that average speed can sometimes be completely meaningless. I had a great ride Saturday and managed decent power for some intervals. But if I take a look at my average speed it was high 16s where I don't have a massive problem averaging 20 for some rides.
