** GIBBO's EXPLANATION OF THE NEW AMD LINEUP - WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY? **

Gibbo I notice that you are still including the gold silver and bronze game bundles even thought according to reviewers the new 200 series is not included in the never settle bundle. I assume this is just OCUK doing this and not a directive from AMD, does this also mean that vouchers might run out without warning?

Moving on to retail matters, buyers of the 200 series will want to pay attention to the fact that the 200 series is not currently part of Never Settle Forever. AMD’s video game bundle program is not being extended to the 200 series at this time, so on top of the price cuts for the 7000 series they will also have an active game bundle while the 200 series does not. AMD for their part isn’t saying anything concrete about the future, but they are strongly hinting that this is temporary, and that the 200 series will be added later after the 7000 series is cleared out in order to give buyers an extra incentive to pick up a 7000 series card first. Given AMD’s situation it makes a lot of sense, but it means we’re in a weird position where in the first time for over a year it’s NVIDIA that has the better bundle, with their current Batman: Arkham Origins bundle.

posted again due to me being an idiot and posting in the latest new thread instead of in here.

So what about the "clarification" given in the other thread that the 270X would be a re-badged 7950? It wasn't/isn't. The rumours that it was a 7870 are/were true. Yes I know it's a Tahiti, but a castrated one. [edit: turns out its not even a Tahiti, it's a Pitcairn XT. A true 7800 series card, just overclocked /edit]

To be frank the 270X is a joke, a complete joke. Get the 7950 while it lasts (or 2nd hand), because this card at its current price (£150 - £180) is a pretty bad deal. In fact it stinks.

I think they realised too many people just bought the 7950 and not the 7970.

Yeah but it doesn't help when OcUK staff say that we're wrong, the 270X won't be a 7870, then it turns out that's exactly what it is. A bit cheesed off tbh.

I think second hand 7950's will hold there price quite well, some can oc within a whisker of a 280x and still faster than a 270x, anyone who has just bought a pair of 7950's at the low prices are a god damb genius

Just out of interest, but how do you go about getting the True Audio sound from HDMI to a pair of normal headphones? Is there an adaptor available? Don't ask me to plug them into my TV :D

On eBay you'll probably be able to sell your 7950 for >£200 (so long as you don't mind risking getting scammed :p)

On MM, I'm hoping 2nd hand prices will hit £120 at some point. When I upgrade from my 7850 that's about the price I'd be looking to pay. Might not happen, of course, in which case roll on 20nm.

Can't stay with this 7850 for too much longer, it's beginning to struggle at 1080p.

I have a prediction to make.
later we will get an R9 280 (none X) 7950 rebrand.
Also an R9 270, 7850 rebrand.

I'd hope that instead of more rebrands we'd get mid-range cards based on Hawaii.

Like the 260, but higher spec.
