Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Can't believe virgin! In feb there was a price increase and virgin failed to let me know! Also in oct they have put prices up again and failed to tell me (I am on a package, So don't know if the increase affects me for the october price rise?). I do know that they put my bill up in feb as it started at £46.40 for the 30mb deal and now is £49.49. In that time I received no letter or email stating they were putting up prices, Yet every-one else got one afaik.

On top of that the superhub is total ***** and the speed drops down to 6 mbps and never, ever reaches 30mb. Want to go infinity, but they can only offer me speeds of 33 mbps max. How likely is it that bt infinity speed will increase in Basildon, If anyone knows? And also what can I do about Virgin as I am still in a contract till Jan 2014? Can anyone help out with some answers please.

I move house next week, and I'm getting Virgin VIP package with the 120mb broadband :)
I think I will enjoy the speed increase over my current 2mb service!

Is there anything I need to know before the engineer comes to 'install'?

Does the throttling really get to be a joke?

Any tricks for torrents or giganews?

Thanks in advance :)

I've been with VM since the early NTL days.

currently on 120meg & M Phone. paying less than £21/month

I have been with them since they were Videotron ;)

Wonder if they will appreciate my loyalty when I ask what is the best price they can give me for tivo and bb, 120meg would be insane considering am use to 10-12meg max !

I was feeling of using the old sky are offering 50% off there entire package price.... but not sure my haggling skills are poor, seems some are saying threaten to leave then stall and recall them or wait for them to call back ?!

having mega grief on my home 60 mbit service. its 1st world problems but at least 3 out of every 30 days i have outages and unusable states.

I really want to sign up to the 120meg package for my new house but I think the price and connection fee are a little steep and I cant get them to budge :(

Have you tried going though the collections route rather than broadband on it's own?

You can pick your own bundle. Take away the TV and as long as you have broadband and phone with talk weekends, the installation fee is waived.

The total is £42 a month with a bit off the first few months.

yeah we get £25.38 credit each month so basically it's free internet because I pay £25 for the internet, but each time we have to call VM to get the credit and 99% of the time they be difficult saying no you can't have £25.38 credit so we have to explain over and over again. so we called the retentions , we explained everything to the woman and she said she can only give us £25.38 and make it an automatic credit each month, will see on september 11th.

grrrr , just called VM to check the fix date which has changed to october 10th, and now they saying the credit isn't automatic each month and we have to keep calling VM each month. so we called the retentions and they are saying the same thing.

what the **** is VM playing at.

I have been with VM/NTL for 19 years, and this is how i get treated, how can they do this to loyalty customers.

grrrr. just called VM 2 times to try to get the £25.38 credit put on the account which we've been doing for the pass 4-5 months has they said to till it's fixed but now they giving us **** again. they saying they can't do it and then said they can own give £12.50.

i'm really getting angry with VM.

edit: called them again and this time the person did it without any issues.

That is insane. Upload some proof :p

Also hard to believe.

The only way you are getting it for that price is

You work for them.

You have tv etc also, but are taking the full price into account for that and deducting the total savings on you bill solely onto the broadband part.

Freak of nature

You are telling porkies.

There is something missing from the explanation...

I was wrong I'm not on 120BB & M Phone.

I'm on 120BB & L Phone:

I've been noticing that the internet connection sometimes hang and loses connection during peak times, so I did a TBB graph. And sheesh at the latency...

Tried calling up Virgin if they can do anything but they just said I'm in an over-subscribed area. I guess this is what I get for living in a student area...

I live in a student area and my solution has been to stay away from VM. It's not the students fault that VM are terrible at reacting to utilisation issues.

I took out my new contract on 1st August 2013 via retentions and paying £13.75 a month for 60mb broadband. Last week I received the standard letter from VM stating my broadband cost was increasing by £2.50. No mention of the increase when I took out the contract so barely 2 months in and I am now paying more. Emailed the retentions woman who sorted out my deal and she sorted it all out in 60 seconds. Added another £2.50 to my goodwill discount. Sweeeeeet. It is very useful having an email address for someone who can do stuff.

Sooo I get my bill this week and it turns out the wench hasn't put on the extra £2.50 discount to cover the costs of the increase.

Just wrote another email to her stating I want this sorted out. I bet she wishes she never emailed me to try and get me to stay on virgin media, all I have done is harass her hahaha

I wanted to go with Plusnet, but even though my exchange is fibre enabled from BT, my cabinet isn't, so Virgin is the only option :(. I miss my parent's 33mb Infinity, lower speed but it was far more stable... oh well, it's only for a year...
