You might be able to do a clean install and change registry value so can activate it using Windows 8 key. Don't know if it will work if upgrade key has never been used before as a proper upgrade.

Hmm, not getting the update here either.
It's a Win 8 Pro volume license install on VirtualBox. Wonder if either of those things would impact availability?

Wanted to try the update in a virtual environment before doing my main box.

you have to update through the store. it's not on windows update.

Installed.

First thing that struck me was how god-awful the default wallpapers are. Some orangey-yellow thing blinded me on logon. A solid colour was promptly picked

The My Computer layout has been messed about with too :/

Found it on my laptop on a dsl connection but my work pc going through a proxy isnt showing the update in the store. hummm
i have the proxy setting in for the store and i can download and update apps. is anyone else able to see the update who is behind a proxy?
