Confirmed: Windows Blue Will Be Free, to Be Called 8.1

Is there anything to back that up. As I will be very surprised if thats true.
Maybe not as big an update as 8.1 was, but i expect to see updates and features next year.

If it is true, ms need their head reading.

Good find, shame they have dropped the GUI but this is better than nothing.
Actually scratch that. The Create System Image GUI is still present in 8.1, Microsoft just hid it somewhere else.

It can now be found in Control Panel > System and Security > File History
at the bottom left you should see System Image Backup.

What is missing is the ability to schedule an image backup using this tool. So if you want to do that you will need to create a Scheduled Task which calls the relevant command line tools.

Thanks, good spot - at least images can be manually created more simply.

Just noticed the update created another 350mb recovery partition, right after the main partition. And googling around this is common with OEM laptops... so now I have the original 400mb recovery partition from Win 8/HP as the first partition, then the EFI and main partition, and then the silly Win 8.1 recovery partition...

Who's idea was this new start button... It's a bad ****ing joke... Like so bad I want to mail MS a poo...

Let us disable it at least.

Is anyones windows 8.1 switching itself on in the early morning?

Mine does it , yesterday 5am, this morning 2am, im not putting it to sleep, im shutting down each night.

Ive disabled automatic updates, nothing is in the task scheduler, i cant work it out.
