Thanks to Sam & Aaron for *making* me break my promise to the Mrs: "No more vape - related purchases this month"!
You're also to blame for the fact that I will have 12 Atties and only 5 mods; so a visit to Fasttech.com is in order to even that ratio up...

Firstly apologies for not reading the whole thread to date, must admit its moving fast and has got away from me...

Looking for quick tips for the RSST, i have got it working well, just wondering if it can be better..

1) ss wick, how tight to roll it to max the wicking? so far i have tried tight and loose without a definite winner?

2) what grade of mesh is best, using 400 atm also what does higher / lower grade mean in terms of wicking ability and juice type?

3) atm i am using kanthal D ribbon wire, with 5 wraps to get 1.3-1.5ohm is this ideal?

4) where can i source replacement tanks for the RSST, glass or juice safe material?

Any other tips for RSSTs?

Ps. I have already drilled out to 2.0mm hole, seem to be spot on for me, i like easy / airy draw

thanks

1: I wish I had an answer, as this is bugging me

2: 400 is a good middle ground, some go to 500. The finer mesh (higher numbers) means less holes and more wire, but I've yet to get a straight answer o how that translates to performance myself.

3: That sounds good! I run 3 coils at 1.8 myself, but mainly because it's less hassle to get three coils working than 5!

4: I've yet to have a tank go bad on me even with cinnamon juices, but a whole RSST can be had for £20 so you could always get a whole spare quite cheaply.

Tips: if it works, don't fix it!

I think my problem originally with the burnt taste was that i was laying the wicks on the deck but must have been blocking the juice channels. Thanks to smokedog who posted a pic up of how to lay the wicks on the deck, i followed that and voila it works.
While your at it, make sure the coil isn't touching the deck, that can cause a short. :)

also, http://forum.svoemesto.ru/showthread.php?t=611 :D

I would try it but seems a pain as you have to rebuild the whole coil when you change wicks.

My microcoils last over a month, just swap out the cotton every 2/3 days.

Plus... My god this guy is dull, most of his wicking videos are 30mins long.
I know what you mean he can go on a bit, but good for people like me who are new to the KFL. :)

I got some M3 bolts delivered today, when i've finished this tank on theKFL its time to try a microcoil with some cotton... Wish me luck! lol

What do people prefer for wick? After using a RSST and kayfun, i have to say, I'm a silica/ekowool fan over mesh. Just seems to taste nicer imo. and i find it much easier to work with, Probs just me but i couldn't get a decent wick/coil with the RSST....

New - Caramel Latte, Jester Juice and Monkey Jizz (all 12mg) trying to cut down in Nicotine from 18mg. Let's see how this goes. The Caramel Latte is meant to vape like Costa latte, so I'll let you know how it is.

Mircocoiling the KFL is a walk in the park. I wrote a short tutorial over at UK Vapers on how to do it. Just do the wraps on a bolt or drill bit and mount on a VW mod. Fire up the coil and use a pair of pliers to squeeze coils together.

Ekowool/cotton all day long for me. I started vaping on mesh and never liked it. Mesh wicks seems to be a bit of a fad, as most people seem to be using cotton now... Until the next fad.

Yep always make sure the coil isnt touching the deck before i fire it up. If we are talking about aawatchs vids??, i think they are brilliant for people like yourself and me although i think he needs to work on his video angles as sometimes i cant make out what he is doing.

Need to order some M3 bolts myself as i want to try the micro coil method at some point.

Also agree with this.
Once you go microcoil/cotton wick you never go back lol
With a microcoil that can last months. you just swap out the cotton every 2 or 3 tank fulls or change of flavor and you are good to go again :)

I hate my life - _- i was drunk lost my Gus and DID but I dont care what ever ima buy somethign newnasdna

what is a microcoil

A mocrocoil is usually a coil using 10-12 wraps, that are touching each other and start glowing from the middle out.
I am currently using 32awg wire, so can only get 2.2oHms with 7-8 wraps, but with using 28awg i should get 1.8 ish Ohms with 9-11 wraps
here is a good example using a microcoil on a KFL (absolutely the best so far imo)

How the **** did you lose them? and why are you bringing such expensive equipment out on the pi**?
Sorry mate, but i cant help thinking
A fool and his money is soon parted :p

It's hard to find sympathy for you Craig - it really seems as if you go out of your way to get into situations that would make most of us just give up and cry!

Don't think I'm being unsupportive - I just think you need to learn from these poor experiences as quickly as possible - trust me when I say (in as unpatronising a way as I can) : We've all been young and foolish before - some just find the bell curve steeper than others.

Get yourself an Ego and a Protank for taking on the lash and keep the fancy gear next to the velvet smoking jacket and wingback chair...

Not sure if your Contents Insurance would be worth claiming on - depending on how much it would cost to replace what you lost versus your excess... If they'd cover it at all...

Get to bed chum - don't beat yourself up too badly when the realisation hits you in the cold, sober light of day... :)

I'm still putting together some microcoiling kits - seems like there's a few on here that could use one...
Please, get in touch via Trust and I can talk you through what's in the kit.

As my favourite wick material:

Cotton at low ohms microcoil on the Igo-W dripper (incredibly warm, deep flavour), easy to swap out for testing lots of different flavours.

SS Mesh (400) rolled tight in the AGA-T2 Genesis, ,at 1.6 ohms for chain vaping - anyone complaining of metallic taste hasn't oxidised or primed the wick enough - it really is a great, long lasting wick. To change flavours, just light the existing mesh wick with a lighter, let the juice burn out and prime with the new flavour - refill the tank and off you go.

Nautilus/Ithaka/Anything needing non-res wire, Silica is easier to use but cotton again gives the best flavour.

Kayfun Lite = Microcoil and cotton

AGA-TD = Currently dual microcoil with cotton, but going back to dual coils with SS rope as it wicks faster and same rules as SS Mesh - prime it thoroughly first to remove the metallic taste.

Vaped the Latte all day yesterday, gonna limit it a bit today as the caffeine hit is quite strong :D
Lovely flavour juice though.

I've always said VapingKing juices are good :). He popped onto UKV chat whilst RY4 radio was on and they mentioned Billy and his new Latte creation on air.

I've let my ebarron juices steep for around a week now so will be trying them again soon. But they weren't all that when I tried them on the first day, hopefully the steep has helped as they are quite expensive and didn't taste like what was advertised for a "premium" juice.

With Vaping King however, I always find his juices to be exactly what it says on the tin. So I have high hopes...and yes I watched a review that warned it contains caffeine so it gives a proper "wake up call" and should be vaped in moderation.:D

Haha, wake up juice indeed!! :D Haven't had a bad juice from Vapingking yet!! :) Also got Cherry bomb and for a menthol which I don't tend to get on with, it's very vapeable with lots of flavour!
