Any tips to stop waking up at 4am?

Make an elaborate trap rig involving a piece of rope, 1 heavy mallet, a movement sensor and a clock

rig the mallet up with the rope to the motion sensor, set it to smack you hard in the face if it detects your eyes opening before a time set via the clock, so the instant you wake up around 4am, mallet smacks you hard in the face and hey presto, you'll be out cold for a few more hours! :D
 
I need help with this too. I try to go to bed at about 12, but wake up at 3-4 and then I'm up for the rest of the morning until my 9am start. I feel dead, to the point where it took nearly getting ran over to make me feel alive again. :o
 
Damn straight, one of the best feelings in the world.

Of course the total opposite is when you wake up and feel you've barely slept, and it's 5 minutes before your alarm goes off. That literally makes me swear out loud. :mad:

Agree, and this situation happens too often! :(
 
I've done exactly this for about 2 years now. Its pretty annoying and started when I was quite stressed which is no longer the case.

I normally wake up between 4-6 which is more annoying.
 
I find myself waking up around 4am-5am most nights. Usually around the time people in my household go to the toilet.

Other times I wake up is during one of two weird sleep events:

1. A loud noise growing louder and louder, ultimately forces me awake (the noise doesn't exist)

2. I physically jolt and wake myself up usually as i'm falling to sleep.

I always wake up for the bog as well, sometimes like 5 times a night and thats not even drinking. I do have a big cup of tea before bed though, but normally have a slash before tucking in anyway.

5 times? I'd recommend getting a check-up with a urologist as that doesn't sound healthy at all.
 
I get this but only if I go bed to early like around 22:00 .... Trying going to bed later and make sure you don't nap in the day . Also go Toilet before bed.

2. Is called a hypnic jerk.

As for the first one such dreams and hallucinations are common on the verge of sleep/consciousness.
 
Don't use the computer or watch TV within 30-60 minutes of going to bed and **** before hitting the sack.
